borrowed some pottery and microphones to get a thing going.

@Noisetrees How’s that expression pedal (what is it’s name again?) treating you?

The Touché by Expressive E. Love it, makes everything a more alive. It’s especially nice modulating FM params, pinging LPGs and controlling accents/brightness/resonance on percussive elements. No matter how you use it, it adds a very nice tactile dimension to playing.

I have been curious for ever about that flower electronics thingy!

not v original, i’m calling it the Pelican Brief, as it’s 6U/84hp of modules housed in a Pelican protective case.

I’d love to hear what’s happening here. Would you mind sharing what kind of mics you’re using and how they are connected?

Interesting. When I saw the photos and description I automatically thought of the noise of sailboat rigging whipping against masts in the wind; a completely different sound to the video you linked.

First time using the soldering iron, I want to get some basic skills to be able to repair some defects in old gear. I had this 1957 philips suitcase 1/4” tape recorder, with a working amp, but no audio out. So as my first project I soldered a jack cable onto the speaker wires going to the internal speaker of the machine. Now I can run my iPad through the mic input, through all the tube-y goodness.

For illustration the first test recording running some breakbeats through this old biddy:

No audio yet but you can hear what’s happening by reading this reply out loud. The setup is a collection of ceramic bowls made by a friend, listened to by a pair of LOM Ušis through a Zoom H4N, sent to Ears. The audio from the mics is used to feed Rings as an exciter. Every gate formed from the mic audio puts a 2hp arp one notch forward and feeds the pitch input of Rings, creating a nice dissonant pair. Rings goes into the Chronoblob, which has Prism with filtered delay and some bit reduction in its feedback loop. Some light filtering with uVCF before output. Some simple Rings timbre and filter modulation from Batumi and Touché. Nebulae 2 just layers a simple stretched piano granule on another channel. Let’s see if I get this recorded some evening.

My daughter names my synths, so I have:

“Max” the Moog (Subsequent 37)
“Olivia” Korg Prologue 16
“Sky” Yamaha Reface CS (“because she is white and clouds are in the sky and they are white too” - kid logic)

And my favorite (both name and possibly also synth), “Redtastic” Reface YC for obvious reasons…

The only synths I have with names are ‘Oscar’ and ‘Jasper’ (because that’s what the manufacturers called them! ) Other synths didn’t come with names :worried:
