I like the soundplane a lot, hard to describe why, as quite personal,
to me, it feels and looks like an instrument… rather than a ‘lifeless’ controller.
why? because the response of its surface is not ‘neutral’, so it has a character to it.
so, imho, its not a generic controller. honestly, at first I was frustrated by this, as its not great for playing some types of sounds / instruments (e.g. piano ).
but, as time past, and I played it more, I grew to love and appreciate it, by creating sounds that are sympathetic to its ‘character’, and so made it feel natural.
I guess we are used to midi controllers being generic, suited to everything.
but thats not how acoustic instruments are… their physical interface is part of their character / nature / sound. so now(!), it seems natural to me that different controllers could be specialised for different types of sounds too.
of course, I recognise, I’m fortunate. to others controllers and keyboards that I can use, so I can use those to compliment the soundplane.
