Cool  it’s best if you mess with the settings, the default range/speed of scratching is not the best

I live in Seattle, so now our household is all working from home - which means that my music space has been temporarily converted into a WFH office. As I was packing up equipment I threw together a Shared System so that I have an instrument I can easily stow away during work hours. I’m looking forward to exploring a more focused system during quarantine, knowing that I’ll be going back to the larger modular cornucopia by Summertime.

This made me smile. Its such a charming circuit design. I’ve heard/read about this module for years but this is maybe the first tangible version I’ve seen. You should post about this in Hardware Physical Modelling

This looks fun. Are there any examples of what it sounds like out there? I didn’t have any luck when looking for one.

there kind of aren’t any! that is one of the reasons I want to build it

I think there is/was some short mp3 attached on some forum thread or other… I remember it sounding pretty much like an 8-bit engine revving

Small music example from the sound-making machines should be mandatory !! So many beautiful images but no idea of how it may sound !!

Not from this exact setup, but you get the idea.

Finally got enough midi plumbing together to make this setup work nicely! Loving this little “groove box extended” system. I have an embarrassing number of Midi Solutions boxes set to get a midi-thru workaround for the Electribe, but it’s worth it. Basically I can sequence everything from the E2 and do “live midi looping” while playing either the hardware synths or iOS instruments using the Keystep. I still need to nail down the signal flow and decide how I want to handle drums.

One of my cats is not doing so well and has claimed my studio as his own, so I needed to figure out a portable way to use all my gear so I can give him the space he needs. The solution was a Pedaltrain Terra 42, a couple power strips, and a whole bunch of zip ties! Once I figure out a decent stand and can rearrange things so they all fit in the case, I’ll have a very fun, somewhat portable, performance setup for various kinds of electronic music. I’m hoping to get my chops in a place where I can improvise ambient dance music for hours at a time.

So cool that you’re giving up your studio for your cat for a while. I hope he gets well soon.

Thank you

I’m not going to get into great detail, but chances of recovery are pretty slim. :slightly_frowning_face:

Sorry to hear that. I’ve been there, it’s tough.

It’s been a real challenge, but it is helping me realize a lot about myself and my family. In some twisted way I am relieved to be going through this with a cat and not a child or other family member. There are certainly some more things for me to work through, but I feel much more equipped as a caretaker.

Sorry for a minor detail, and thanks for being here with me. If anyone else is struggling a pet or loved one, please remember I’m here with you too. There aren’t a lot of communities where I feel comfortable discussing this stuff with strangers. Lines is, as always, the exception.
