Setting up a very mixer-centric setup

Lockdown case number 2.

For me, Marbles tends to be the start or core of a patch. That’s where the rhythms and melodies often originate—mostly because it’s so easy to get pleasing results, it has many sweet spots. Mimetic Sequent/Multium I tend to use unquantized and just as often for modulation as controlling a voice.

I have a lot of random and chaos modules, perhaps too many some people would say and be very wrong. I find that they’re always rewarding to simply plug into any open jack and see if it made things interesting. Just don’t forget to attenuate!

Thank you for checking it out ! Yeah that’s gonna be an awesome setup. A nice poly synth in to morphagene will be bliss

All my cables are in disarray as I needed to unhook my Deluge and ship it off for repair (shipped the day before NZ announced a 4 week lockdown thinking I could get it back for quarantine music time) but this is my humble setup. Normally the Deluge is the brains of the operation.

I’m brand new here as I just got my Norns last week. Already looking around the room to see if anything can go to fund a Grid and/or Arc. Thinking that’ll be a while.

My work (I work remotely as an application consultant for a utilities software company) has been hectic so I haven’t had to time to record anything in at least a month. Hoping to tidy this space up this week and get something done.

how do you like your kemper?

I love it. I pretty much stick to a few nice clean tones and mess with the effects. This is the 2nd time I’ve owned one. The first time I missed some of my crazy effects, but between Kemper and ZOIA I’m set now. I recently bought a Squier Bass VI and I’m loving having Kemper for bass as well. Set up a few presets that nail the Tame Impala bass sound the other day. I also just bought a Mission Gemini 2 stereo FRFR cab to use for the rare gigs with my band but it hasn’t seen much use yet. I brought it to our drummer’s house for a practice last month, left it there, and then got a shelter in place order. Figures.

Every day’s its looking more and more like I should just give in and build a 48x48 matrix mixer

I just got the B&K 1615 bandpass filter, but unfortunately it didn’t come with the AC cable, so I can’t power it. If anyone in Europe has got one to spare, send me a message.

What would such a cable look like?

This is the back of the unit.

related story, one of my first serious jobs as a film sound FX editor was on a Peter Jackson movie (The Frighteners) & they brought Randy Thom over to supervise/mix etc… I only overlapped for a week or two with him, but sometimes he would shut his studio door… and then weird duck caller sounds would be sometimes heard… A year later we realised he had been in preprod/design for Mars Attacks!

Building dual streams? Man, I won’t lie - I’ve build loads of MI stuff and lots of Jim Matheson’s boards but for whatever I’ve attempted streams twice now and it hasn’t worked out. :frowning:

I’ve got one unit that passes signal and responds but I just can’t get the 2nd channel to behave properly - it’s just erratic and distorted, can’t get to the correct place in calibration. Give me a shout and let me know how it goes! Also, build an Ambika as well; SVF cards in mine. Which filter cards did you go for?

@jmsiener yes, this was (hopefully my last mutable build) well im doing 2 ugrids atm. Yes its a tricky one aint it? I struggled with getting the led pcb flush with the panel and pots but both units worked on the first go  Hoping Emilie gets back to designing modules and being so kind to making them open source!

My little boy making noise on his Casio Privia earlier today.

I’m working from home full time at the moment, and today when I went downstairs for lunch my son called me over to show me his new technique. He showed me how he was using his sustain pedal to make and hold a low string sound (like a drone), then switching it to a piano, or another plucky sound and improvising little melodies over the string drone.

Super proud moment! :raised_hands:

sorry for ot, but where did you find clicky pots for DoT? Raph sent me by mistake wrong panel version and now there is a lockdown everywhere and I dont know when I recieve correct ones. You can PM me
Thanks

Have had this set up for quite a while now. Laying down rhythm tracks for a new project, mostly, plus the necessary labor of outer space exploration the gear requires.
