From the now-defunct BKM panels. I hope someone else steps up to fill those shoes, because I think there’s certainly demand.

I’ve heard this a lot and I had older Thinkpads(T series) with those keyboards, but I absolutely love the chiclet keyboard on my x230 so I haven’t made the swap. I should try it out eventually for fun.

Side note: The x230 on Linux is an amazing audio machine.

Re: side note: had an x230 for 8 years, had some metal shaved off the lid surfing asphalt during a motorcycle accident and didn’t skip a beat. amazing for sure

We’ve been working for the last month to clean and revamp our garage, in particular to hold a rehearsal studio space for me and giant 12 shaft loom for my husband. The studio space is now mostly done:

The main idea is that I have a big table where the current project is set up (currently for the Lines community stream). All the other equipment is away in the cabinets. This goes against the “have it all set up all the time” conventional wisdom - but I find it more productive to have just what I’m focused on set up.

The flash of insight in designing this set up was to have a very large open space behind the table so that reconfiguring is easy, not a hassle. As you can see, the space is wide enough to easily sit down and rewire. Also helpful is the addition of an MOTU Ultralight AVB because it is so dang versatile!

The cabinets hold several synths not currently in use, the felt bins hold common cables, the drawers small cables, adapters, power things.

wow, that Pulsar 23 really draws the attention! how are you finding it so far?

I know it’s not exactly a sound-making machine, but now I want to see the giant loom

@jbowman - It really lives up to the term “organismic”. It is very much a performance instrument, and rewards practice with deep expression.

@Justmat - the loom is still in pieces. Assembly starts next week. I promise I’ll post a picture when it is built.

They are often called Flumi A special stick meant to use on gongs or cymbals, but they are a friction intended stick so you can use them in basically everything that can resonate

just chiming in on these…
they originally came from a soundtrack percussionist named Emil Richards.
usually called friction mallets.
there are several variants and a few different companies have created some interesting ideas.

here’s a whole horde of them:

note…
the SuperBall style mallets will eventually dry out and quit working.
the eGong wands have lasted me for several years with no problems.

Added a small mixer and speakers to my setup to make it usable without the computer. I like the view on the tree  Also happy I just picked up some old speakers laying around. It’s not the best speakers but they are good enough for this. (also, the old clown curtains are great when the light is too bright  )

Glad you’re enjoying it @alanza (and hope you’re doing well)! This is a good reminder that I need to get Patchwork on the new clock system

Seems like the left half is the “modular” half and the right half is the norn’s/crow half.

Makes sense to me!

And yes, good to see you’re still patchin’ and well @alanza!

I don’t remember the full rationale, but it wasn’t this clever, although I like it! I think I wanted to deliberately be a little bit anti-pattern by putting Mangrove really far from the sequencer modules (Crow used to be a second W/) and splitting up the Sisters. And I wanted to suggest that Maths is the heart of the system by putting it front and center.
