So, I haven’t spent a ton of time with it, but I can say that the videos give a pretty good sensation of the initial uses of the pedal. It is hella cool and sounds great! Can I tell you what’s going on…? Not really. But I think that changes over time with use.

For example, here is a simple thing I did, it was just a F Neutral Pentatonic (that’s my shit) with a simple Peak patch. Relatively quick attack, mid range release, a little reverb cause I love glithcing reverb. I then caught some stuff in the phrase looper, yet left the synth playing the simple arpeggio.

This is the “track” I made just playing with the settings on the pedal and the synth. I believe this was on the SEQ Micro Loop setting.

It sounds wonderful! Super bonkers! Fun to play! Did I know exactly what each knob I turned did? Not a chance!

And yes, in the comments a robot asked me if I was looking for a sensual meetup! How fortuitous!

That’s awesome. I knew him as a label curator before an instrument builder; he’s put out some seriously killer cassettes.

Scales is so good for a person like me who A) does not play keyboard B) has extensive ten key skills from being a cashier.

I use it to play the E-Mu Proteus 2000 in tune with whatever sequencer the old iPad runs (mostly Rozeta).

Welp, it makes sense that a robot would be looking for a casual hook-up with a glitching delay/reverb. The “track” sounds great!

There are a ton of great initial settings that I really enjoy!

And I really only put the quotes around the “track” because it really felt like cheating! It was very simple and easy!

Big changes in my studio!

At this point depth year 2020 was an absolute failure, but I actually feel like I’m setting myself up for success in the future.

I recently started moving away from ambient music and back to the rhythmic-based “chipwave” music that got me into synthesizers.

This made me realize that my modular synth had become a very expensive millstone. It was a total flow-breaker to have a nice beat going and spend lots of time trying to shoehorn some west-coast bloops that either forced me to ignore lots of modules or patch something up that would have been more suited for a Volca Keys.

So I cashed out my millennial retirement fund (love this term @modularjammer) , and invested in some Elektron boxes. Octatrack very much ticks the modular itch. It’s really fun to start to grasp what it’s capable of and it’s kind of a fun reality check when you get lost and confused. I really dig it and have a long way to go!

The Digitone is actually the second I’ve owned. I sold the first to pay for modular stuff and now I’m realizing what a fool I was. As soon as I started flipping through the factory presets I got a huge smile on my face.

I initially hated the Digitakt because I get so confused by the storage heiarchy. I got it to be a more robust OP-Z and I was disappointed when it wasn’t as immediate. Fast forward a week and I’m loving this thing. It sounds and feels so good and I really like the sampling workflow.

I’m looking forward to getting in on the next batch!!

yeah how much did the M8 sell for?

These beta units were $350. There’s going to be some hardware revision as time goes on and the creator moves towards mass production. These were an attempt to get 100 out in the field and see how the community dig them.

Here’s hoping price can come down a little but it’s already impressive for the price.

Generative ambient setup : Yamaha Portasound PSS-480 (90’s FM synth) that have no built-in sequencer, aglaonema plant, midi biodata sonification device, and multi effect pedal.

Mind if I asked about the stand for the 9U case?

Also, any chance for a recording of the gig? Looks very interesting.

The stand is a K&M guitar stand: https://m.thomann.de/nl/km_heli_2_black_acoustic.htm

The concert was recorded in audio and video. We will release it. Not sure when and where.

Thanks, mate. I was certain it was an amp stand. Is the guitar stand sturdy and stable enough for your case? I need to buy something like that, and I’d love to get a cheaper and lighter guitar stand instead of an amp stand…

Yes, it is very sturdy. It is a stand for an acoustic guitar. Which means it is wide and deep enough to keep my 84hp Doepfer P9 case well supported and at a good angle. My case does not move sideways or forward when I patch during gigs. I always make sure the cases rest on the stand on three points: 1. The upper backside of the case rests on the ‘top of the triangle’ of the stand, 2. The bottom edge of back of the case rests on the horizontal parts of the arms, 3. The bottom of the case rests on the small upright parts of the arms. All three of these points of the stand are covered with thick rubber. So no risk to harm your case and no risk of slipping or sliding.

After outgrowing the power capabilities of the RackBrute 6U, here’s my modular setup as it has grown into its new Mantis case.
