You got that Mordax DATA, how do you lke it?

The Data is really helpful for understanding what the hell is going on. I’m very glad I have it. The O’Tool might have been every bit as helpful, but I like the big screen and the ability to monitor 4 inputs simultaneously.

I got to lay hands on an in-store demo of the Mordax, as well as the new O’Tool. They are both very cool. The Mordax is probably better value dollar-per-feature, but the O’Tool was available to buy and the Mordax won’t be until spring next year, and I wanted to see stuff, so I bought an O’Tool.

Once I had it installed, and started using it, I was glad I got the unit that’s half the size, as I had this slightly unsettling realization that I didn’t really need it. It’s fun, and cool, but seeing waveforms–especially JF and Mangrove waveforms–didn’t end up being quite the mind-expander I hoped it would be. I mean, it basically just showed me what I more or less already knew was there. I can’t imagine I’d be any more pleased taking up twice the real estate for essentially the same purpose.

But that Mordax sure is handsome, even if the name makes me think of 60s c-movie vampires or something.

xMas fun in the attic. Actually productive. Odyssey, while very limited in its CV capabilities does have a some hidden, or at least, not documented, functionalities.
Eg. When controlling with CV (gate and pitch) local keyboard does nothing, but take the CV out and and it can transpose your quantizer/sequencer. Timing of said transposition determines whether or not Odyssey behaves as monophonic or paraphonic. It’s hit or miss but can sound lovely. In this photo I’m transposing the Quantimator.

Yes, it’s a Fender Squier Vintage Modified Custom (which means it has Duncan designed P90s). It’s a cheap guitar, but I like the way it sounds.

Squier is making some great guitars now.
So much better than the ones from when I was a teenager. I own three squiers now. A vista series musicmaster, a bass vi and a jazzmaster. I’ve done minor upgrades to the bass vi + jazzmaster (bridges + pickups) and someday maybe I’ll change some things on the musicmaster but they are really solid players.

I really wish I had a need for an OP-1 as they are beautiful little instruments.

Oblig picture, one of my dogs (literally) taking no shit of the local rules and regulations in Madrid.

I have this hilariously cheap - and now discontinued, possibly promoted to a straight-up Fender model - Squier '51:

(pictured alongside my Yamaha bass).

I love it to bits: Strat body, Tele neck (the best neck), and a lovely range of noises. Even if I’m a lousy guitarist.
