+1 for this. Ways of Hearing is just wonderful - it’s really well produced, both from a technical perspective and from a “radio documentary” perspective. It’s very close to the sort of thing I’ve always wanted to hear - something about sound made with love and expertise.
I’m getting a bit allergic to a particular style of American factual podcast, and this manages to neatly sidestep many of my issues. I think it’s a particular intimacy and calm Krukowski brings by being slightly inside the topic - not an enthusiastic, generalist presenter, but someone with a hint of expertise and experience. It makes it calmer, a tad more intimate, but also a tad more authoritative.
(It’s why one of my favourite formats for people talking about music is people talking about music whilst holding an instrument to illustrates things; music discussion sat a piano is so much better than dancing about architecture)
