Yeah, I don’t think I’m going to be buying this immediately, but I’ll definitely get it at some point.

Little question about the 0-CTRL. Did I missed something or is it just going forward and backward like the good old Pressure Points? Is there any way to get some random allocation of the steps without touching it?

The manual is not yet available… but from my understanding it is not a function. Also, as there is no menu, I suppose there will not be any possibility of a firmware update (?) as it is the kind of sequencer where “what you see is what you get” to loosely quote Tony.

The Mylar melodies video gives a really nice demo of ways that the sequencer “playhead” can be bumped around and redirected.

So I just listened to that section (13:18 to 23:43) of the video. It is indeed able of creating micro scenes of steps, randomizing time per step and other interactive functions, but nothing as autonomous random allocation of steps à la Korg SQ-1 and many digitally driven sequencers.

The fact that it is analog may then be the reason why it is not possible.

Thanks @rstn for pointing that section of the Mylar video!

I really like the redesign on this. I’m curious to hear demos of this new iteration. It probably doesn’t have a place with me, but it looks super fun and very easy to play.

Re :subharmonicon

It looks like your wish came true -all the usual vids sprung up on cue… Love the rhythm seq part of it a lot.

Love a more lo fi / lo £ version.

Yeah. It’s a coniserable increase of coin, compared to M32 and DFAM. I wish that they would leave the Eurorackable format for something more spacious, like the size of the Lyra8.

This time, at least, several of the videos look at the Subharmonicon with different focuses rather than all just hashing over the basics. This is the most interesting 3U Moog product, in my opinion. Hainbach’s complaint (and partial workaround) regarding the missing bandpass filters I found interesting.

Could one achieve a similar effect with the mangrove oscillator in regards to Subharmonics?

Just Friends can subdivide in this way since the envelopes/cycles normally do not start again until complete. Something like this: trigger JF in transient/sound mode with a high pitch from Mangrove, then run JF outputs of your choice into 3 Sisters as a formant filter. There’s an example of something like this near the end of the demo video if I recall.

i think i remember that the barrel knob achieves a similar sound based on the same principle.

Has anyone else noticed in the Moog Subharmonicon review videos that the leds are circular when off and hexagonal when on!

what witchcraft is this?

Is it possibly just bokeh?

I think the internal moulding of the LED light pipes is hexagonal:

Yeah was about to say you can see them in Look Mum No Computer’s teardown video

Two rival theories! I’m sticking with witchcraft!

(didn’t know there was a word for this optical effect)

(actually I was watching the reverb channel one and it looks like the DFAM does this too but not the Mother)
