My CVilization arrived today and really, it’s even better than I expected. (I guess it’s no longer “pre-release” as of one or two days ago though…)

Going back to 4x4 from the AI008’s 4x3 allowed me to patch a stereo feedback path with Mimeophon, invert the L/R for wet/dry, reverse the feedback polarity, etc. Dialing it in is very easy, and being able to select the routing either by input or by output is very handy.

The current patch I’m playing with:

In 1: audio from ENOSC through Natural Gate
In 2: audio from Mimeophon
In 3: Pitch CV from 0-Ctrl
In 4: Time CV from 0-Ctrl
CV A: dynamic gate from 0-Ctrl
Out 1: main audio
Out 2: feed to Mimeophon input
Out 3: to ENOSC pitch CV (with S+H and quantization enabled)
Out 4: to Mimeophon μ input

This is simultaneously:

  • a feedback patch with Mimeophon as a resonator, which I can instantly kill by muting input 2
  • mixing/selecting two CV streams from 0-Ctrl into a single quantized pitch (selectively muting inputs 3/4)
  • giving the opportunity to mix some audio into the pitch CV stream as well – since it’s using S+H, it just randomizes my sequence a little while maintaining the same overall contour of musical phrase.
  • controlling the pitch of Mimeophon’s resonation with input 3 as well as FMing it a little from input 1

It’s seriously a fun module and I haven’t looked past mode 1 yet.

Happy Nerding just announced a 4hp version of FM-AID on Insta (and probably elsewhere!) - the image on the website is updated but I don’t think there’s any other info as yet. Might be handy for those of us with limited space!

Me, I’m still waiting for my back-ordered 3xVCA, effects come later…!

I‘m waiting too. I heard the front panels where delayed but should arrive soon.

Edit: Just got notified that it arrived at the shop.

I’ve been eagerly waiting on the new stereo filter from Shackmat. From their superbooth stream it sounds solid. Looking to replace my current noisy filter and also have a more effective end of chain filter.

@winterbloom just released this really cool dual DCO, called Castor and Pollux, for pre-order! Check out the samples, they all sound amazing (and one was composed by our very own @zbs!)

It’s got two totally independent oscillators with PWM control which can also be used together to create a “chorus” effect, and it looks really nice, in my opinion!

Are y’all interested? What kind of applications do you think it’ll work well for?

I’ve recently re-arranged my Eurorack to be more textural/sample manipulation based but it might be really nice to compliment that with some slower enveloped 80s synth tones. The HP battle continues for me.

HP rationing is really hard. That sounds like a really interesting rack concept, do you have a ModularGrid link?

For sure:

It’s a 104HP 4U Intelijel, the Subharmonicon is sitting next to it. It’s very much heading towards the MN Tape and Microsound Music Machine

However, I do like having the grandPa in there for the digital distortion it can provide. The Dixie2+ will most likely be on it’s way out. I was using it for when the setup was more mono-synths. I still have a very strong attachment to the sound of triangle waves, so we’ll see.

I also need to get some sort of stereo mixing going on, but I could definitely see some Juno-ish sounds making sense in this rack.

fwiw, I’m in love with the STMix from Befaco. Super easy to build and super easy to use.

the more I get into monome world the more my modular starts to look like just a bunch of unique oscillators like this.

+1 on STmix. I sold mine because I don’t have a lot of stereo any more, but if you do, it’s hard to beat.

That’s actually very helpful. The other stereo mix options I was looking at where quite HP heavy, STMIX could absolutely allow me to add Castor and Pollux without losing too much.

would be interested to get the full scoop on what the LFO is doing on the second Osc.

By default the chorusing adds a 0.2Hz triangle wave to the second oscillator’s pitch CV. The amplitude of the LFO is controlled by the chorus knob and varies from 0 to 0.05v. The frequency and amplitude of the chorusing can be changed over SysEx. Additionally, you can switch the triangle for a sine wave over SysEx. Finally, everything will be open source so if you’re super adventurous you can do all sorts of things.

I plan on grabbing one of these modules and will for sure copy your colouring scheme! Looks awesome

Limited release of 1000 units of a Chase Bliss x Zvex collaboration on the Fuzz Factory.

The Bliss Factory.

They’ve been teasing that thing for so long I kind of forgot that it hadn’t come out yet… I <3 my Fuzz Factory, but the EQD X DBA Time Shadows is 100% more interesting to me…

That’s fortunate then as the Chase Bliss one has sold out already haha.

Chase Bliss is like the Supreme of FX pedals. I ordered this “limited edition” with the intention of flipping it in a week or two, but then realized that I was just feeding into this hype machine system. I also realized that ~$445 is a bit much to pay for a fuzz pedal. I cancelled my order, thus guaranteeing that these will only go up in price.

Good for them I guess… how many of these do you reckon will hit the secondary market in a week for twice the price?

I’d been bummed about missing out on the CBA generation loss and kept checking reverb for months, but couldn’t justify spending 800 bucks on it (I’m seeing it listed now over 1,000) - I really did think about buying this one just to flip it, but like you just couldn’t bring myself to do it. Sigh…
