i set an alarm to make sure that i saw the chase bliss pedal, two people texted me about it, i already own a fuzz factory (which I don’t use at all), and was thinking about buying it because it was limited and i didn’t want to miss out. once i took a step back and realized all that stuff i felt kinda gross.

FOMO is a helluva drug.

That was one that I actually would have liked to use. Had a chance to buy one when it was released but thought “nah, not right now”. If I only knew back then what I know now. hah. Oh well, we live in a golden age of gear, there’s so much good stuff out there and always new stuff coming out. Plus, there’s always the stuff one already owns.

I got one used for a great price and have since sold it. It was probably my least favourite of the family. Always sounded fake and cheesy on synths to me but I bet it’s fantastic on guitars!

I miss having that “type” of effect but I don’t miss that pedal.

I’m looking forward to hearing the next generation of the Generation Loss:

Hang in there. Tom (Cooper) has stated that Gen Loss 2 is on the horizon.

Have y’all seen this SSF Vortices “Character Mixer”? I noticed it today on ModGrid and am intrigued by everything about it. The routing, vintage-style coloration and possibility for expansions (including additional CV control and mutes) all look super cool. SSF said to expect more info soon…

I’ve been beta-testing it and I have to say it’s absolutely fantastic and has exceeded my expectations.

I was particularly interested in it simply for the functionality per HP while still remaining fun to use, and that certainly has lived up to my expectations. But the “tape” coloration and “console” limiting when you really slam it are just exactly what I didn’t know I needed in my system, and what I’ve previously been using plugins to achieve in a way that is not as satisfying. Running my digitone through it has been really wonderful as well, adds just the right amount of harmonics to expand on the sound in a way I usually do in a mix anyway through saturation or tape plugins.

The stereo section has a bit less saturation than the mono one, with the mono one particularly useful for percussive material to my ears. Feedback is also absolutely fantastic sounding, I found myself addicted to the massive warmth you can get from it. I can see myself ultimately using this within a patch and end of chain, it’s set up really well for both purposes. This one is a winner.

Any idea on a release date for the Vortices? I’ve been looking at it, as well as the Befaco
STMIX, Make Noise X-Pan, and Bastl ABC.

Beautiful. That’s great to hear. It checks all of my boxes as a mixer with routing to be clever with FX sends and feedback, but the coloration and saturation is what really seals the deal.

I’ve been really into treating certain modules (such as tanh[3], QPAS, Mimeophon, etc.) as outboard gear during mixing, and I’m stoked to hear Vortices do its thing. I could even see it as a cool, cheap(er) and more space effective alternative to a summing mixer- albeit more lofi than traditional dedicated outboard gear :innocent:

After a long research I have both STMIX and X-PAN and some mono cascade mixers (VCAs, attenuverters…), the only interesting thing in this for me are the sends.
I will try a tool as simple as Frap Tools 333 to do sends: I could send 3 stereo and 3 mono signals to 3 different destinations each. No control over level, but the effects I own have one in the input.
For the HP/price it’s my winning combo.

Yeah! I’ll definitely keep an eye out for the new version. I did end up getting the Cooper FX arcades with the gen loss card which has been great for me

We buy hope. Always hope.

You should check out Plagwitz.

Very interesting, but I’d need at least two units if I want to work with stereo and that’d make just 2 sends.

Yep looks like end of the month.

Neat new drum machine coming from Modor. I like the aesthetic of their synthesizers. This drum machine sounds good to me. It looks like an awfully big box, though. I wonder how the sequencer works?

Joel was extremely upset and has since stated they are done with “Limited Editions”. Good riddance.

Edit: Oh and I think alluded to mass releasing the Bliss.

On one hand, I’m happy that he has a successful, growing business. He seems like a decent guy and deserves it. If I made anything, I’d be ecstatic if they all sold out in an hour. That’s what we call a “good problem” to have. On the other hand, I think Chase Bliss created the situation they are in, so there’s no point in getting upset about it. The secondary market part is just strange. Anyone who pays $800-$1000 for a guitar fx pedal – a mono one at that probably has more money than sense. You could build an entire pedal board with way more functionality and “tone” with that kind of dough. I’ve had a couple different CBA pedals and didn’t really get along with either of them. But, what do I know… Anyway, no need for me to waste more bits and bytes rambling about this topic. I did learn that a generation loss 2 is in the works, so that’s interesting.
