anyone eyeing this? Looks like it might be lots of fun and I love the option of racking or not. More info in a thread on the other forum

I’ve been following the development and it looks interesting. My biggest concern is the small size–it looks kind of cramped, and I think that’ll make it awkward to play. With an 8x8 grid of buttons, plus the jacks and knobs–it would be nice to see something closer to a monome 64/launch pad size.

True. I still remember walking into a synth shop and seeing eurorack modules for the first time in the flesh and being shocked at how tiny they were, even after watching hours of videos of people plugging jacks in, turning knobs, etc. Will likely be looking for some more right angled jacks to go with this

I’m probably going to wait until the alu cases are ready, but am interested in your thoughts once you get your build done. The functions and the sounds are excellent from what I’ve seen so far. Also about to embark on a big diy project, so I don’t want to be distracted by side projects–although it looks like an easy one day build.

Yes. Looks fun. Worried it will (to me) become a music toy, rather than an instrument i want to learn deeply.

I’m subbed. Will purchase a unit once it’s available. A playable poly in a compact size is perfect for my needs

I’ve got a couple bigger builds on my plate too. Feel free to DM me if you want to trade horror/success stories

@steveoath Funny, the possible “toy” aspect is one of the things that’s appealing to me. Hoping to put one of these in front of my very young child and see if they get a kick out of it. Or likely ignore it. Either way I think I will have some fun.

@CarlosUnch for me I’m hoping it’s nice as a quick arpeggiator or a poly to feed euro filters and such. Not that I ever really worry about tuning but would like something I can just quickly spit out some chords and melodies with when goofing around and trying things out.

Thats how I lost my Pocket Operators!!! In that theme when my daughter was very young she was entranced by Nodebeat on iPad. That was nice to play with.

Received my Morph 4 today and this was the first thing I tried. Short audio clip for anyone interested:

This is four Cs-L outputs (sine, two final outs, and multiply) with Sloth riding the morph control and lfos into four of the span or position inputs. There’s delay at the end of the chain to smooth out the transitions. I start moving knobs as well about 1 minute in.

I suppose I could get similar places with my Quad VCA, a bunch of lfos, and maths (or some logic), but definitely not as elegantly.

Got to make a little performance on the Oxi One using the key layout for chord sequencer mode. Playing around with inversions and voicings is too fun! A good thing about this machine is that when you are done editing a mono sequence, you can copy/paste it over an individual track of a multitrack sequencer to free up a slot of the 4 sequencers that can be running. Hope you like the sound

Apropos of nothing, he gives the most charming demonstration. I love his sense of humo(u)r.

that sounds great! I’m toying with the idea of making Morph4 the main quad VCA in my small system to harness some of its tricks when needed (and using it as a regular mixing VCAs when not)

Got the email that plinky is available to those who went on mailing list. SMD LEDs scares me though. £150+VAT+delivery. Added to the M8 and nerdseq portable being round the corner. Much dilemmas.

Yay! Just bought it. Make sure you got the tweezers if you don’t have one, that’s all you need to handle the SMD LEDs properly, with that you are safe

I missed the cutoff! Ah well, hoping there’s a next round!

@steveoath - Agreed, if you ordered, get the tweezers (though I prefer the regular straight ones). Good thing is I imagine it will function completely even if an LED is not soldered correctly so it should be pretty easy to spot any errors when it’s powered up.

I’ve been frothing over this one for a few weeks now:

Is there a good demo of the actual usage of the thing? Because, like… don’t get me wrong, having a bunch of Turing machines with a quantizer glued together is useful, but it sold out before there was even a proper explanation of how it operates. Much less, what would make it better than a couple uO_C’s? The UI doesn’t self explain.

There’s a detailed manual on the webpage. It’s not a demo, but it arguably does qualify as a proper explanation of the UI and operation.

It’s only just come out, I’m sure there will be more of that sort of thing too.

The documentation just released gives a great idea of how the VCO sounds. The documentation itself is beautiful, interactive and well animated. Extremely hyped for this module!
