I’m in agreement…some sort fx chain in a single unit to play with 0-Coast/Ctrl. The ‘easel’ teases suggests as much to me. This begs for a case to house all three with a single power solution

It was speculation based on Alessandro’s recent posts, and pretty much confirmed by him responding to a tweet saying “Please let it be a voice” with “My voice, more precisely .”

Between the Activation, Tones, Filter, Absorb, and Decay control labels have been visible in recent teases, Tony and Alessandro making obvious references to the Easel on Instagram, and Alessandro explicitly stating that it is going to be something besides the 0-Coast to use alongside the 0-CTRL, I believe this new thing combined with 0-CTRL will be Make Noise’s take on the 208 in the 0-sized form.

Of course it won’t be a micro-clone of the Easel, but I’m assuming we’ll at least get the equivalent of the Envelope Generator / Pulsar (Activation?), Modulation and Complex Oscillators (Tones?), Dual Lopass Gate (Filter?) and Reverberation (Absorb and Decay?), perhaps a white noise source in addition to the oscillator Tones, and obviously a way to interface with the 0-CTRL (clearly not a 218 with its unquantized outputs).

Slightly off topic, but https://antonus-synths.com/en/antonus-2600/ is an even better choice than either, IMO.

“My voice” implies a sampler to me. The current Make Noise standalone stuff is already like 85% of the Easel.

Looks like I’m going to be paying korg at least $1500 this year

Plus that b******** zaquencer looks very tempting

“and we’re not letting you out of the basement until the drum machine is done, ok?”

That was very much a “get thee behind me” moment because it looks like the perfect external controller for an Octatrack, but I still can’t go for it.

I will probably go for whatever it is Make Noise is cooking…

Yeah I wasnt familiar with the original or the zaquencer before I saw the news of this re-release but it does look so good. We’ll see if it’s going to be worth it I guess. Apparently it’s going to be very cheap too

That’s my guess. And even though I have a 208c, I’m really excited about this.

Cortini isn’t known for using samplers outside of the occasional bit of sample-mangling in the OP-1 or the Waldorf Quantum. He is, however, well-known as an Easel user, and when discussing his work with the Easel with @darwingrosse for an episode of Art + Music + Technology, he suggested (I’m paraphrasing here since I don’t have time to listen for the exact quote) that synthesists find “[their] own Easel that works for [them],” even suggesting that sometimes his Easel isn’t a Music Easel but another piece of gear. I think he said in the interview that his “Easel” at that point was his Synthi AKS.

He has been a huge advocate of the octatrack:

I honestly forgot about the Octatrack as a sampler. Most people I’ve known that use it (or used to have one) were mainly using it as a performance hub to control other gear.

They’re missing out

Was about to say the same thing! God I miss my ot

Elektron workflow never clicked with me, even when I attempted to learn the Digitakt and Digitone while working in a synth shop a while back. Octatrack always seemed too overwhelming for me to even attempt to learn.

I understand that Elektron isn’t for everyone.
As for the OT, It’s really not difficult to learn especially on the mk.2 where they added buttons for the features they added.

Just like anything, if you put in the time you reap the benefits.

i got into the octatrack workflow, and realized it wasn’t for me. there is no casual use; you’re in or out. amazing devices, though. the analog 4 was instant gratification, and i miss it sometimes.
