They talk some more specifics about the inner workings of the strega around 40 minutes and he has some more pretty sounds coming from it at the demo near the end doing audio processing.

Interestingly it sounds like the synthi had a lot of influence over the design of this synth. With lots of subtle saturation and feedback circuitry going on behind the scenes. Actually sounds like they have actually earned the odd parameter naming as it sounds like it is defying the norms with a more complex interconnected system under the hood.

Really excited to get my hands on one now.

side note my syntrx is on a somewhat permanent spot on my master send return because of how good saturating signals through it can sound. Glad make noise is taking some synthi cues.

Yep. Thanks for sharing! Finally making some proper demos.
This demo video is more talkier/nerdier if you want to get an idea of how Pluto works.

My fave cortini piece - I don’t doubt at all the synthi was inspiration…tension and release

One of my favorites, too.

I have to listen to this. I listened to the episode with Tony about 0-CTRL and stuff a while back and he said they were cooking something new, I guess this was it. I’m not very convinced of the Strega yet, sounds that I have so far heard made me a bit worried about a lack of range perhaps, as much as I love the music of Alessandro and have taken some inspirational cues from especially Avanti and Volume Massimo, Strega has sounded a bit too “Alessandroish” to be anything but pastiche in my hands.

Did you see Rodent’s example with Strega?

Sarah Belle Reid is doing a video tomorrow, and Hainbach on Monday.

yeah there is a little teaser for the video tomorrow on instagram too

really helps to quell any worries I had about its potential range. It seems like it is going to be a killer combo of a voice and sound processor, that melds between either thing. Trumpet through it sounds dang amazing.

Alessandro addresses the “everyone will sound like Alessandro” concern in this conversation. Short version: they won’t.

Also really like Sarah Belle Reid’s insta demo as an example of someone sounding like themselves and not like Alessandro on it. (https://www.instagram.com/p/CKmOShzBuEr/?igshid=yciuf5yc1hyk)

Funny I just broke out my TSNM back into my skiff

New features:

– new internal structure (keyboard > arp > sequencer > quantiser > portamento > vibrato)
– internal clock
– individual clock multiplication/division for arp and sequencer
– pressure controlled transposition
– improved arpeggiator algorithm
– rhythm sequencer for arpeggiator
– gate types per step (ratcheting) for note sequencer
– new and improved recording mode for note sequencer with overdubbing
– pressure output can act like a proper AD, ASR or looping AD envelope generator
– internal modulation options for various parameters of envelope generator
– a second voltage sequencer available at pressure output
– 8 user editable scales for quantiser
– portamento (gliding) shapes
– vibrato with pressure controlled depth and 4 waveforms
– 2 note polyphony (please keep in mind that the pressure CV output has only 12-bit resolution, don’t expect the same precision as for the note CV output)

Oh awesome! I was testing out the beta firmware on the mk1 and the new features are really cool! The sequencer and the arp can run concurrently at different clock rates to make some very complex patterns, for example you can treat the sequencer as a transposition sequence to shift the arp up and down.

I love the basic idea of this, but I wish there were a lot more patch points! Being able to use the sequencers and oscillators independently would make it much more appealing to me.

Ok, I promise to stop posting demos of our new low pass gate, but I wanted to try and recreate some Buchla Music Easel-esque sounds using the LPG, Vactrol Emulations and some of the built-in/free VCV plugins. I was really happy with the Befaco Spring Reverb, and was able to blend it in more successfully by running it into the saturation section of our LPG.

Neat-o, do you happen to know if the new firmware work with the v1 hardware? I know there was a beta floating around but can’t tell if this release will also work with the mk1.

I just wrote doboz with the same question

Some kind of an announcement tomorrow. I’m excited!! Really like both of these companies

Gotta say ALM seems to be getting the point. “We’re releasing something tomorrow”. Way more hype than a two week or month long build up.

I would be so jazzed if this announcement is just a modular remix album of

Huh. Offhand I still prefer the original design. I like the octave plates, and having them above makes them harder to use while playing? But overall it sounds like there are some thoughtful improvements!

vocal pitch shifter module with alternate “spooky steel drum” firmware. (ok maybe I’m more familiar with their earlier stuff  )
