It’ll be some modular stuff I reckon, can hear it me I’m sure I saw euro cables - I hate stuff like this, it’s not like they don’t have a rabid base, they don’t need to stuff like this

Annoying speculative post: between their recent-ish job postings and the way this has been rolled out, I think it will probably feature a subscription or some sort of cloud features (hence why it sounds a lot like repackaged engines), Elektron did this so that people would have an opportunity to judge it by how it sounds rather than what it is. It sounds cool/fine/great/capable. It also sounds to me like all of the tracks could have been made with bits from their existing product line (model cycles in particular). That’s not a horrible thing. Maybe it will have super cool functionality (best functionality would be to reduce the price of second hand monomachine/machinedrum) by getting people most of the way there with the Elektron Legacy Machines pack or whatever.

and this got me thinking how tightly the code for the sound generation in machinedrum/monomachine is coupled to the original platform. Because in theory if it was nicely separated from the actual hardware bits then releasing the old stuff as VST or something shouldn’t be that hard. Especially as those machines were smaller (single page of parameters specific to machine in machinedrum) so from my naive point of view it shouldn’t be that hard to extract. But I work on data munching in the cloud not audio generation so might be completly off the mark

When is the actual product announcement supposed to occur? I’ve been following this thread for hours, waiting to find out what this thing is!

I got a reply from Loopop saying “Not just yet, but wont be long.”

Funny you say that, I read somwhere that ‘monomachine users are gonna be happy” as a monomachine user I can only freak a little at this, dunno if it means anything

Realistically, the a4 does a mighty fine job with cv already…

No idea.

Yeah I dunno. You see things like the Versio modules from Noise Engineering and the flashable firmware and think how long is it until this sort of thing makes it to hardware? I imagine it has already? I haven’t paid attention to the brands doing it if so, but it seems like a natural evolution during an era where mainstream synth brands don’t seem to be particularly focused on innovation.

The most exciting thing (to me) about electronic music is the possibility of making sounds not yet heard/with gestures not yet realized. (Stepping away from any assumptions about what the new Elektron device might be) While I am somewhat loathsome about the idea of a subscription tied to a piece of hardware, it does seem to me that there is the possibility of introducing new patterns for deploying synthesis and sound making in a dedicated hardware box…

Except that it also sort of sounds like buying a Norns that you have to pay for every month and someone else makes all the decisions about what you can do with it?

Take that with a grain of salt. “X users are going to be happy.” is a long running gag amongst 'Nauts.

Any love for the new blue behringer thing? I tried to check it out but the ui design hurts my poor old eyes.

As a noob with zero keys, I’ve been waiting for exactly this. I’ve almost given in and gotten a Keystep a dozen times. I’m glad I waited!

The only thing I don’t quite understand is why they went with only one velocity output rather than 4. 3 more jacks, and you’d have so many more options for polyphony.

Other than that, I do really like the design, and I can just about imagine putting a 4-note paraphonic voice together in 112hp. It could make a really interesting, infinitely flexible alternative to the Matriarch.

It’s legit. Uploaded to a retailer site.

It’s been taken down now, but there was a second photo of the connectivity on the back of the box.

If it’s that I need one !

8 digital voices and 4 analog in one nice format box? It looks like more capable than A4 so Elektron surely will do something to unnecesarilly impose some limitations on it that the more pricey A4 is still desirable :stuck_out_tongue:
Or maybe they will be deprecating the A4 and AR and this will be the ultimate synth box (which I hope)

 Thats the result from my and another Naut’s joke requests for CV I/O and USBC on a shopjob done to prove how easy it would be to 'shop the “leaks”.

I think we should hold off posting any pics until official announcements.

I think this looks great.

I’ve been looking for a new controller keyboard and modular case (slimming down setup) so this should work a treat.
