ok i’m gonna stop clogging the thread but @renegog

i thought of that and still wonder: why not flip the sync/midi block orientation if it can be arbitrary? it’s not important but my obsessive mind is trying, and failing, to figure it out

on a postive note so many of the other choices make perfect sense including button layout, size (which makes two handed operation feel natural), color usage, usb type (esp compared to kaoss replay), and hidden battery compartment

i’ve just heard that many elements of the enclosure are lego compatible so it’s a very well thought out machine and i’m quite impressed by the majority of the choices and implementation

Well, now I think the grip car being released yesterday is kind of funny.

The quickest 350e I’ve ever spent. The PO 33 KO is so much fun, but it always stopped being fun when polyphony and sequencing brick walls got in the way. This one is an open road of bliss.

With TE I usually go: huh, cool, not for me but glad someone is doing it. This is the first of their offerings that has me going hmmmm, maybe this one IS for me.

the same thing happens to me each time I pick up a guitar fx pedal.

edit: ok, to be fair it sort of makes sense on a guitar pedal, but I still find it very irritating.

best looking segment display i’ve seen since the yamaha su700. also, strong rk008 vibes aesthetically. i would be happy to see more products be designed around segment displays of this type, rather than always using a led screen, even if it’s not really needed. are any eurorack modules with segment displays?

after watching cuckoo’s video, workflow seems very straight forward and smooth, but i’m already with at least one sampler too many in my life. but excited to see what the future ep series will be – a tonic one would definitely be nice.

Feels like a missed opportunity to not have included an EP-133-sized pocket.

Am I understanding right that samples cannot be looped i.e. via shift + sample slot key?

pretty bummed out If that is the case, at least for the use I was hoping to make out of it

any1 can figure out how much (seconds) sample time the KO II can have!?
64 mb is around 1 minute but they talk about compression …

They will sell a ton of these. I am having FOMO at the same time as thinking I can save money by just buying one a year from now when one of the thousands of buyers puts theirs up for sale. ~sigh~

The struggle is real.

Google Translate says it says Sanpura which apparently means “Sampler”.

I must confess I indulged. (Pro tip: I couldn’t get the TE Store to work on my phone or iPad, but it worked fine on my MacBookPro.)

I really don’t see any “cons” with this gadget. The proof is in the pudding, and with these kinds of things it’s all about the interface, and it seems like they fussed over the interface.

The thing with TE is that everything they make is a labor of love.

A nod to the history of Akai and the MPC maybe? All the pocket operators had the same on the boxes too. The Blade Runner effect maybe.

I just got to the velocity sensitive punch in FX part of Cuckoo’s demo…so good! (timestamp 22:33)

Gah! I was not expecting to buy anything (saving up for a Fujifilm XH-2S), but this came out of nowhere and I got totally swept up. I picked up a used Model:Cycles recently but started missing a sample-based workflow and didn’t feel like splurging on an Octatrack again — this seems like great, approachable fun, which is 100% my vibe these days re. music making.

p.s. hiiiii – it’s been a while

The fact that the price of this is closer to Earth than many/most of their other products, together with MIDI capability, makes this much more attractive for me.

Argh, this totally ambushed me. Arriving Wednesday :grimacing:

Am I right in thinking you can’t just enter sequences on the 4x4 grid between A and Enter? Seems odd, given the PO heritage.

part of me wishes for the opposite

that it had the sturdy enclosure, wireless connectivity and rechargeable battery that drive the price up on the field line

i’m happy with it tho and will judge the build quality when i get my hands on mine…i’m especially glad that they give so much built-in dedicated i/o compared to opz at launch, it’s a huge plus!

benefit of doubt for Polyend? their products typically have 2yrs lifecycle, 3 at most. coming out half-baked and leaving still unfinished. it seems to be the strategy, and pretty cynical at that. the unrest the Play+ debacle caused is for a reason. and I’m afraid it’s one of their last products, as it feels more of a desperate move than anything

really beautiful sequencing passage here…

plus some demos showing pretty compelling hip hop production

I had the same thought watching the Cuckoo video. I read Japanese and … I dunno, I hesitate to call it Orientalism, but it definitely seems like a cheap quick design shortcut to some kind of exoticism. Which, whatever I think of them, TE at least seem a bit thoughtful about their design choices. (Yes, I’m trolling. Kinda.) Which makes me wonder what It signifies to them.

They did, yeah. Maybe a reference to the Game & Watch series? That would be more explicit and make more sense with the POs than with this device. But the Game & Watches all had English on them. So maybe it’s meant to be complimentary to that?

It seems a little bit of a … teenage design choice. I say that tongue in cheek, but also I do think it’s something a young person would do designing their Cool Anime Synthesizer in their maths notebook while in class.

As an instrument it seems cool!
