If true, it could be the first MARF that actually works as intended, right?

It could be the first MARF officially released by Buchla/TipTop that actually works as intended.

The current MARF firmware for clones (developed by maxl0rd on ModWiggler and beta tested by the DIY community) works very well, solved the problems of the original and added many useful features.

I’m just curious to see if Buchla will develop their own MARF firmware and how it will compare.

Is it clear whether the firmware Roman is developing for the Buchla/source of uncertainty 4U release is the current community led revision of the firmware or has he gone back independently? I’ve assumed the former but have no source for that assumption.

I don’t know either, but imo it would be a, let’s say “questionable” move to just take a firmware iteration from the DIY community and release it in an official Buchla module – after all what they have done against the DIY community.

P. S.: Sorry for derailing the thread. We should probably move this to the Buchla thread.

I wonder what the objects on the bottom achieve (water cooler bottle etc) - not sure how its vibrations would pass down the rod… I emailed to enquire about costs but may well DIY the handle for rotating the cymbal. (I’m not sure what the box around the friction mallet does either - they work perfectly well on cymbals as is)

Could be similar to the TTE Konklang “Vario OTG 5” handle, of which I have a couple. They make it easier to get a stable sound and let you target specific resonances by adjusting the position of the handle. I have a bunch of their friction mallets as well. The company seems to have gone out of business, though.

From the drawings shown of the latching mechanism seems it may be possible to allow adjustment of the shaft length as @copper_tongue suggests.

He also explains in the vo that “my wrists were sore”; the handles are both more ergonomic and give some mechanical advantage.

I had never seen this before, and I will be selling my SP404 mkii and scooping one of these. I will use BitWig on my Steam Deck, along with this controller and have a similar experience, with a simpler workflow. Haha

there we go:

no CV control, there are others (4ms, NLC etc). The idea was to be able to chain larger stereo matrixes…btw, those are not mini pots.

there are also jumpers for pedal/modular levels on the in/outputs

Wait! What? Off to check that out…
