This song is an offering to a lone egret. An offering and an apology. Sensing the composer’s and their canine companion’s approach on their regular hikes, the egret takes to the air, its powerful wings beating against the air. Rising above the treetops, the bird vanishes into the boundless sky, leaving behind a feeling of wonderment.
S.Costa is an experimental composer, producer and sound designer based in Somerset, UK.
His practice combines analog and digital synthesis, juxtaposing sounds inspired by the natural world with otherworldly, playful (often strange) tones and textures to invoke themes of memory, belonging and landscape.
S.Costa spent his formative years as a guitarist in numerous bands, but turned to modular synthesis during the pandemic in 2020, when he was mentored by the American experimental composer and synthesist Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith.
