A chorus of winged creatures, awakened by dawn. Thousands of leaf-nosed bats (Phyllostomidae), returning from a night of foraging, descend upon a Cuban cave, Cueva de la Vaca. Their chirps, a symphony of hunger and excitement, echo through the cavernous space. Recording at close proximity, Nick Kuepfer captures the intimate sounds of a bat colony, their wings fluttering in the darkness.
Nick Kuepfer arranges experimental multi instrumental pieces with live sampled tape loops, field recordings and drones from various sources with a tendency for experimentation of sound and dissonance. Born and raised in Stratford, Ontario and now living in Montreal.
