I have a new album out today, on tape on the lovely TDO Cassettes and on digital on my own Broken20 (or all the various evil streaming sites)
This one is almost entirely Norns and Ableton, with the rather obvious addition of human voices throughout. The even numbered tracks are reworkings of the soundtracks for the film series i did / am doing for Repeater Books and the odd numbered are extracts from voices from the films.
There’s lots of Norns patches on here - Sines, Cheat Codes, ONG, Glaciers, Amen (on non rhythmic material) and Mngl most obviously but also lots of little bits rendered out from countless others. Much of the “tuned” melodic material is made by forcing Ableton’s “generate melody / generate harmony” tool to generate notes from voices or non-harmonic material, and then using the Scale tool to force that into specific keys - a really nice way to generate pretty random sounding but in-harmony notes.
Hopefully you enjoy - will fire some bandcamp codes into the thread tomorrow when I’m home to generate them. The tape is close to selling out.
