Inspired by Modalics’ Beat Scholar, scholastic is a polyrhythmic sequencer that focuses on splitting a measure into beats, and splitting those beats into subdivisions.

Requirements

norns (required)

Recommended:
nb voices (e.g. oilcan, doubledecker), MIDI output device

Documentation

There is a timeline, with tracks in the vertical and time in the horizontal. Navigate, divide time, and add notes. Set their pitch and velocity. Play them back with the polyperc engine, nb voices, or an external MIDI device.

E1: Select track (Scroll to track 0 to change number of tracks with E3)
E2: Select position (Scroll to beat 0 to change number of beats with E3)
E3: change track/beat/velocity
K1 + E1: Transpose

Buttons:

K1 (hold): Shift
K2: Play/Stop
K3: Insert / remove a note
K1 + K3: Toggle velocity editor
