Can someone hook me up with some more Serge-made music like this! I typically love the timbres, but prefer more melodic music.

Also what system/panels are these? Very mega-banana-noob here, looking to DIY a system like this in the future.

Here’s about the most melodic music you’ll ever hear from a Serge: https://loveallday.bandcamp.com/album/synthesis

The Edelweis panel is from RandomSource, current version here: https://randomsource.net/serge_panels

The Vintage Voltron panels were from group buys some years ago. You could still build a sequencer panel like this from the CGS circuit boards, but you would have to make the panel or have one made for you.

Curious if anyone here has given the joranalogue contour 1 a try? A bit more like half the original dusg in that it will also track 1 v/o but with some additions. The rise and fall gates look nice to work with and cv control over oscillator rise/fall shape is another interesting addition.

when i saw it the first thing i thought of was negative/positive slew generator too

I have no Eurorack, but this stuff would be at the top of my list (along with the R*S Serge modules) if I were to pick up the habit. I really like the Serge-esque focus on function and descriptive naming. I’m curious about how frequency and slope feedback are compensated; perhaps an inverse voltage is applied to the slope automatically? I’ll have to try it out with a CV mixer.

new touch controller from Elby

been curious about it for awhile—corresponded with Laurie this morning and control voltage output via pressure is 0 to ±5V. debating w/ myself if I want to go for it or just continue trying to save up for the new R*S TKB … which I still have a hard time justifying, given the asking price.

I scored an arc tkb for 600$ and couldn’t be happier, sure miss the new glide toggle but appart from that it’s the same in functionality and for a third of the r*s price!

But 3.5mm… if you want 4u/banana there currently aren’t many options and the R*S one is substantially nicer than the other ones floating around at the moment…

exactly. hence my interest in the above-linked Elby module, though it’s quite sparse when it comes to features (especially relative to the TKB). At first glance, doesn’t seem to afford that much diverse control wrt CV modulation etc. anyway I might not even be able to keep my Serge in the long run so I’m hesitant to invest over half of what I spent on two panels for a single ‘sequencer’ panel. though it might be a ‘game changer’, as one might say? agh!

Keep an eye open for a Human Comparator TKB. Average price in the past year off the top of my head has been about 1000 USD, and while it lacks the new features Random*Source’s TKB offers, it’s also a lot less expensive.

The TKB certainly excels as a sequencer (with some helper modules), but don’t sleep on its potential as an expressive preset manager. A sixteen-fold bank of four preset voltages is nothing to sneeze at!

Something non-serge that might be worth exploring is the Meng Qi Voltage Memory which was available with 3.5mm jacks or banana jacks.

Speaking of Human Comparator, anyone know if the proposed 73-75 panels (other than the homebuilt) are ever going to me made available?

Looks like they’re going to be busy with the Buchla 100 panels.

oh, this is actually my primary interest in it. esp. the immediacy (‘playability’) of switching/modulating across presets. I would love a panel of a dual ACPR and a 5-stage programmer or something. which of course could be accomplished ad hoc w/ individual modules. tbh all of this just screams money pit to me at this point…

Question for those with a VCFQ: I know feeding the bandpass output into the filter input can create a sinewave self oscillation; if you have the same patch set up with the filter in low mode, do you have a sinewave LFO at the outputs?

yes, indeed. I was actually just messing around w/ this earlier this morning. gets more interesting via fm w/ an external src as VC F input.

Wonderful! Quadrature LFO on top of everything it already does. Stoked to have mine built up soon enough; I’ve been patiently anxious building all these CGS boards with no enclosure planned yet…

That’s what I was afraid of…

Anyone built any of the Elby 4u kits? I was thinking of grabbing a couple of Loudest Warning panels and a kit or two to begin to slowly complement my existing panel.

I recently built a BOCGS BOG panel from Elby. Not quite finished but almost there.
