Howdy, and welcome.

I see you have a Bermuda in your current system, but not in your future one. Not happy with it? I’m interested in it as a cheap and cheerful oscillator, but haven’t heard much about it.

It’s a fantastic oscillator, especially for its price. It could stand toe to toe with many other oscillators 3-4x more. I usually use it as a kick drum or as an extra operator for FM patches or for layering with my DPO. I will probably keep an extra skiff around for extra modules that I like but don’t fit into my main case, and keep the bermuda in there. My only wish is that it went down to LFO rates, but that’s asking a lot for a $60 oscillator :joy:

If I wanted to build a polysynth in modular it would be my first choice for oscillator because it sounds phat.

I’ve been thinking of building a Bermuda as another voice in my otherwise all Nonlinearcircuits rack. I think you’ve sold me!

you won’t regret it!

Been doing a little thinking over the past few days about the sizing of my case. For those of you who play out, how large are your cases? I’m thinking about spending the few extra bucks and hours to make my case 2 6u 104hp cases instead of a 9u 104hp. For people with cases in that range do you find the extra row makes a huge difference or could you do without it?

I’m actually in the process of moving from 12U 104 to 9U + 1U… I found the 12U too much, and I didn’t really make the most of the modules I have. I’m reducing the size to really focus on getting the most out of my favourite pieces.

That said, I also use some non-eurorack devices when playing shows, so ymmv.

My setup for the ‘3600 cuts’ performances:

super curious to see that without cables
how do you manage 5/6 cases? each case does a job/song?

3600 patch cables

Really wish I could have seen this, looks amazing.

I will see if I took any shots before patching.
As to ‘managing’ I really don’t think of these as separate cases. Maybe the only exception is the small square case on the left which was intentionally built as a self contained system around re-301/Teletype/manta. But even this case contains ALm Pamela’s New Workout, which really clocks the entire system (connecting to various clocking, multiplication/division modules throughout other cases).
I build the instrument throughout the process of rehearsals, and then perform it along with all the other components of the work during the showings. In this particular case, the objective was to construct sonic content for a dozen of unique sections, totaling 60min (3600 seconds), where each would have distinct character, while maintaining a sense of continuity and cohesion for the set as a whole.
All the cases are, in effect, my whole studio, so I work with the whole thing regularly, developing ideas and strategies that utilize different modules throughout the system. I draw on these experiences when working on the piece on site with the performers. I personally love the idea that the score is singular to the particular staging, and is basically irreproducible. When scoring this project in different locations, I observe certain structural or dynamic ideas that contribute to particular sections of the performance, but the sonic and textural solutions are always different. And of course, things often vary wildly during the actual performance.

 I actually ran out of cables again with this!

In the midst of a eurorack size reduction (from 12U to 9+2U) and general reorganization. Not seen here are a couple guitars and amps, computer, and monitors.

super cool! how do you manage mixing / clocking that beast?

Can’t wait to break this 301 in finally…

Will there be a recording of one of the performances?

Well, I didn’t take any pics before patching
But I took one of the cables AFTER taking them all off

Traded some modules in for a Wogglebug and store credit, and trying-before-buying a couple of modules from @dan_derks and @Tyresta.

Modular Drum n’ Noise machine.

Always love gazing at others’ systems so thought I’d share.

This is all of it except the Dunst which was in the middle of a move and I forgot to put it in. The large case is an improv setup that I am refining and the smaller case is spillover. I am trying to fit all the sequencing in the box with the large case as whenever I put Ansible in I max the power and have to take other things out. I also like the idea of the instrument being self contained. I’m planning a small 84hp system in the small case based around the ER-301 when I can get one. The Ansible (or two) would sequence this case.
