There’s build progress info on my Instagram but I’ll post all info in its own thread when mk2 is built and working (PCBs are currently being made)

It’s 17 hp, as narrow as you can go with norns. And there’s a cutout in the side of the case for usb access.

I find this Eurorack-Norns to be super interesting! Have you done a write-up of how you did it, especially with regards to power and I/O?

It’s actually this early attempt kindly gifted to me by @Claire. Power is just a usb breakout to the side of the case, audio I/o is just jack plugs soldered to jack sockets and mounted to the panel.

I think some people have done it. 12v to 5v voltage regulators exist and are not expensive. It’s more wether you have a euro supply that can handle it, shield is happiest at 3A 5.1v which may be a lot to ask for a euro supply.
You would also need a UPS so you could switch off your euro supply and Norns can store a little power and sleep safely, otherwise you have to manually shit down norns every time you wanted to turn off or power cycle your case.

Those meanwell power supplies could provide enough on the 5v rail for sure but are also quite noisy supplies, which norns is quite sensetive to.

For me it made much more sense to just have a few power cables going to my case.

I’ll just put it here as people ask about the depth of the 4ms pods all around the internets:

The 4ms Pod 34x nicely fits the Expert Sleepers ES-8, Disting EX and Little Mikey. As far as I’ve understood, the 64x also has the same depth, but the other x’s are shallower.

Maybe this will hit people’s googlaroos

Good to know! Also, there’s no power switch, right? So do you just leave yours on or do you have it connected to a power strip? This is basically the only reason I haven’t bought a Pod, because not being able to traditionally turn it off really bugs me.

I have it on my 1U power strip that I switch on and the pod powers up, distributing power further to two other cases with jump cables. So far it’s worked out nicely!

I have a Pod40x – Disting mk4 and Zlob Dual VCO barely fit, anything deeper would be a no go unless maybe you could immaculately route power cables so they don’t go underneath PCBs. Modular Grid says Disting EX and the Doepfer A-174-4 joystick are the same depth, I had to round over a programming header to get the joystick to fit.

Just put the Pod40x back together this weekend, I call it my Blorp Machine. I’ve already replaced o_C with Joranalogue Compare 2 since taking this photo.
