Money is making me spread out the purchases, but I’ll let you know!

Update on my rig. Got a 4ms bus stick to clean up the ribbon cable/flying bus hell that was there before, and I’ve taken out the Tonic and Wasp, since I’m struggling to find uses for them. Picking up a Batumi (thanks @HateNames!) over the weekend, which will go in the top row. Last addition to that will be SSF Ultra-Random, hopefully soon…

Bottom row will be filled out with a mix of logic, maybe a 2hp Nse, and some sequencer/seq. switch action. Trying out the Quattro Figaro as a main output, but if that isn’t to my liking I might find space for a Bastl ABC, and use the QF for the VCAs and inverted mix outs for feedback patches!

Open to recommendations for switches, sequencers, logic, etc. Looking mostly at 2hp and Pico.

Maybe the WMD/SSF Tool-box would be useful? Includes some of what you want in a pretty compact space.

How you liking the Tromso in that small system? I bought one a few years ago and always forget about it. I’m a big fan of Bastl and seem to be slowly acquiring everything they produce.

OK, some of you may be aware of my 90 to 104 hp identity crisis, but I think, after a stretch of turmoil and mis-steps that I’ve honed in on something that I think makes sense for my goals and workflow…cheers!

I pulled out a Mutamix and got a Samara and Spock and put back in the Walk

How are you liking the Plonk? I have mixed feelings about mine. It sounds amazing, but I get frustrated with the interface. I also love the idea of the multi-timbral and preset selection cv features, but find a don’t really use them because I find them hard to use…

I think Intellijel does a brilliant job of managing deep modules and menus while still being quick and intuitive. So it isn’t ideal to have submenus, but given what it provides in the size, I think it’s great. The modulation potential is fun too. I did little mutant techno duo set with a friend opening for Sissy Spacek and the zonked hi-hats I got going with the Plonk were super fun

I worry I have too many voices and if I want to put in the ES-8 to do MAX work I’m really going to struggle with what to pull out.

I’m really enjoying it. I’m still not sure how it all works, but having fun with the S&H and sending an LFO into the comparator threshold. Love the grit you can get from it too

Looking at replacing the uVCF with a Cinnamon. And maybe get a Dynamo, but I don’t really know if that would be useful for me.

I’m getting really into Bastl stuff. I like their attitude and wonky take on modules! There’s part of me that wants to have a performance setup of 2 Kastles, a Microgranny and a Dude mixer…

Thanks. I agree that they do a good job. I’m not giving up on it yet, the sound is really unique in the eurorack world and I love that. I’ll have to spend some more time with it and see if certain things get faster for me to do.

Yeah, I think it fills a unique niche within my case. It’s a matter of deciding if I want that niche filled or keep it more classic. But those hats…those hats…

Hi everyone. I’m new to this forum. I just recently discovered how incredible the monome Teletype and Mannequins modules are, and I’ve heard good things about this community so I thought I’d join.

Here’s my rack right now.

I’ve been doing modular for almost about 8 months now and I’ve been having a ton of fun making techno with this rack, controlled by an octatrack. I find myself drawn to west coast styles of synthesis, complex oscillators lowpass gates, and particularly nonlinear sequencers. Things like the Klee, Rene, Turing Machine, etc are deeply fascinating to me because it’s like you’re composing with a band-mate or partner and your rack takes on a life of its own.

This is where i’d like my rack to be in a few years.

My eventual goal is to recreate the MN shared system(whose workflow, philosphy, and aesthetic I admire greatly) with the Mannequins lineup as a supplement, plus a few extras in a 9u 104hp case I’m going to build. I am very drawn to the idea of a modular as a complete instrument, and I think that giving myself limitations like 312hp of modules and only a few of my favorite manufacturers would be beneficial for my productivity. In a perfect world, I could complete this system and not change the majority of it for years. I want to build a relationship with my rack like an orchestra player would with their instrument.

The teletype seems like a really powerful way to have macro control over many elements of a patch, like having 10 extra sets of hands to direct as you please.

But yeah, I’d love to hear you all’s thoughts on this plan, how well mannequins and make noise modules work together, or your opinions on the teletype in general

Howdy, and welcome.

I see you have a Bermuda in your current system, but not in your future one. Not happy with it? I’m interested in it as a cheap and cheerful oscillator, but haven’t heard much about it.

It’s a fantastic oscillator, especially for its price. It could stand toe to toe with many other oscillators 3-4x more. I usually use it as a kick drum or as an extra operator for FM patches or for layering with my DPO. I will probably keep an extra skiff around for extra modules that I like but don’t fit into my main case, and keep the bermuda in there. My only wish is that it went down to LFO rates, but that’s asking a lot for a $60 oscillator :joy:

If I wanted to build a polysynth in modular it would be my first choice for oscillator because it sounds phat.

I’ve been thinking of building a Bermuda as another voice in my otherwise all Nonlinearcircuits rack. I think you’ve sold me!

you won’t regret it!

Been doing a little thinking over the past few days about the sizing of my case. For those of you who play out, how large are your cases? I’m thinking about spending the few extra bucks and hours to make my case 2 6u 104hp cases instead of a 9u 104hp. For people with cases in that range do you find the extra row makes a huge difference or could you do without it?

I’m actually in the process of moving from 12U 104 to 9U + 1U… I found the 12U too much, and I didn’t really make the most of the modules I have. I’m reducing the size to really focus on getting the most out of my favourite pieces.

That said, I also use some non-eurorack devices when playing shows, so ymmv.

super curious to see that without cables
how do you manage 5/6 cases? each case does a job/song?

3600 patch cables

Really wish I could have seen this, looks amazing.
