you can also hit the tap tempo button while in thru mode to get a little momentarily glitch

Good to know. I’ve been playing with a Serge system this week and lusting after one. But since I can’t afford it, I’m looking for comparable Euro setups, and the Cartesian is pretty much what I’m using on the serge. Not convinced by the Telharmonic or lack of VCF though. Am I wrong?

The lack of filter definately never bothered me, it was actually super rewarding to get away from filter dependency for awhile.

I couldn’t love the telharmonic at first because it’s so “different” but I think it’s really special and if you can learn to appreciate it for what it is and not wish it was something else (like a basic east coast oscillator), there’s a million rewards waiting.

The top channel of the LxD is resonant so can get a little “liquid” sounding if you like. This track I did uses the top channel of the LxD on the bassline:

Make Noise also did a tutorial on how to get different filter types out of the LxD and it’s well worth watching! It’s a heavy module for a mere 4HP

Why not go for Random Source euro Serge? Or Elby?

I don’t regret selling all my euro for 4u Serge though

Those Elby CGS 4u panels are nice and somewhat affordable too compared to Random Source (about half the cost for DIY).

I’m thinking about it! Mostly I’ve been using what you’d find in a classic west coast synth so it might be more realistic to put something along those lines together since I already have a few of those building blocks.

Finally!

A helluva lot of the rest of my life will be spent here.

Still need to attach LAN, DB25, and MIDI cables.

Basically, I’m jazzed to have all modules in place and connected correctly.

Still working on filling out this 7u but we’re getting somewhere  Morphagene is next on the list. All patched up for my first live gig this week!

Here’s where I’m at, or where I will be at, once the Erve-Verb I just ordered arrives. The primary use for this system, besides ongoing self-education, is processing/accompanying guitar (and, to some extent, voice). The blank panel at the bottom is for a Crow. I’ve got room left in this for 28HP (it used to be full, but I’ve whittled back), and I’ve promised myself I won’t go over, though I may “cheat” with an O-Coast or a Dark Energy or something at some point. I’ve had that Soundmachines UL-1 on the market for awhile, but I may also just keep it, because I do like its peculiar artifacts quite a bit. The Batumi was great to begin with, but adding the SPO helped a lot. I’m not sure what I’ll do with the remaining space. I think I might just divide it between an Elements (to add the percussive voice) or maybe two uRings, plus a Three Sisters (or maybe an FH-2 or something along those MIDI conversion lines). External to this I’ve got a Norns and a 128 grid and a 16f fader. I use the ES-8 with CV Toolkit or VCV Rack, mostly. The new (v3) Befaco Outs remains a solid choice (the headphone out is great). I think that about covers it.

Here’s my current setup. Not 100% modular, but centred around the Serge and small Bugbrand systems.

In a manner of speaking, uh huh.

is the serge all random*source?

No, it’s about 60% Random Source that I built from their kits. The rest is a combination of Loudest Warning and CGS.
