What case is that, out of curiosity?

my own design… simple alu skiff with threaded rails

Slowly edging closer towards the BugBrand modular synth I dreamed of when Tom was creating the original systems back in 2008-2013. I’ve somehow had amazing luck in finding people willing to trade or sell some of their old system modules. This instrument is an endless source of wonder in tonality and process. Not too bad to look at either

Finally filled my whole case!

This weekend’s entertainment. After much frustration I’m finally starting to get some decent sounds out of the d0…

Just wrapped up a set at Jester King brewery here in Austin as part of an experimental music fest with this setup. Sounded great and was a real good time!

Oh man, Jester King is so good.

i bought a modcan b module this morning and while it is not a dvdo, it will be the last module in my system unless it doesn’t feel right and another pops up

b series version of arp 4075 clone but with built in 3 input mixer and dual (exact same afaik) outputs. hopefully it self resonates as it used to and tracks at least partially (has 1v/o input). it is odd to me that being a sine osc will be able to cover a lot of ground but in exactly the opposite territory as the dual wavetable. we will see what comes out in use-patching… not like there is a whole lot of b series running around out there that i have seen recently.

i’ll post a shitshot of the lil-big on arrival.

Beach house vacation setup featuring my rack on the right and a friends on the left. Many beeps were made.

looks like fun :v:t2: how do you like your grandpa + expander?

it’s good fun! the granular stuff is still a bit of a mind melt for me and i haven’t loaded my own samples on it yet so there’s lots to explore still but i love the interface of it. There’s some things about the controls that are a bit fiddly with the start/end and attack/decay controls and getting samples to loop — the decay has to be all the way up and even with the expander it’s under the same controls as the “end” — but overall it’s very intuitive and playable~

I effing love the NoNo Lander. It’s at the top of my list for a future performance case.

It’s absolutely lovely!
Very well built.

Put most everything away for the moment, going to concentrate here with the technical maps and studies printed out.

Took me more than 6 months with a similar setup to feel like I was getting somewhere worthwhile, but it was wellllllll worth the time.

I keep flip-flopping between having basically a monome + mannequins set up (+ a few extras) in a 104x3u little toolbox case, and adding a bunch more stuff in a 104x6u case. Probably smart to keep it simple! I need to get my head back into Teletype and W/, specifically, as my head has been elsewhere and I feel like I’ve basically forgotten everything. :stuck_out_tongue:

edited to attach a modulargrid pic, and then I kept typing:

it’s in a beautiful little Pittsburgh Modular Move 104. Always struggle with module placement in this setup, too. Especially the Telexi and the W/ (and sort of the Cold Mac) since I typically like a left-to-right signal flow, but also know that those modules like some space (or a row-end) for easy manual manipulation.

It’s also missing some handy modules that I’d include in a larger case (mix/attenuate/invert is nice with JF, full size Clouds, VCAs, more FX, dedicated modulation and/or envelopes, etc).

Honestly the other large part of why it’s in this case is that it uses floating nuts to attach modules, instead of a pre-drilled rail, and Teletype’s holes are weirdly aligned (as is my OG Earthsea).
