Probably the most fun object I’ve ever experienced.

How do you use the Zorlon Cannon?

@license So many ways. Digital noise/cymbal sounds. Strange SID style chords. Semi-random gate sequences. S&H style modulation. Self-patched variable clock source. It was one of the first modules I got and its been very inspiring and versatile.

The ttsh is finally back from the doctor after being damaged during shipment!

How do you like Bloom for sequencing? Effective with what you want to do without Chord?

I really like it so far. It’s definitely got some quirks but with a little bit of tweaking it can really drive most of anything I need it to do.

The dual channel setup makes it super easy to make phasing patterns of different lengths - or writing in a bass and lead line and modulating them for performance.

The root CV can be a little slow to quantize at times which is annoying, and the clock in only works when the internal clock is manually turned off it seems - but most of everything else works the way it should and is easily accessible via the channel, reset, and shift buttons.

I don’t think I’ll end up getting a Chord, just not for the kind of music I’m looking to put together at the moment, but I may grab a surface for a bit of harmony/faux polyphony in my setup.

I’m in between rooms for my stuff at home so I haven’t touch my modular for two months. If I had a better speaker this would be the way to go for me. So very space efficient and portable.

Thanks for the detailed response. Gets me juiced up because I haven’t been able to get this module off my mind. Cool about the dual channels.

Finally got a skiff for my old DIY modules which have been sitting in a box for over a year. Nice to reconnect with the modules that got me into the rabbit hole!

And a great companion for the main 7U rack!

The skiff is a Thonk DIY one, clear perspex ends and rails.
Its a perfect fit, and can be re-positioned in the most ergonomic place when a patch gets busy.

But why is your TXb upside-down?

More progress on my entirely hypothetical no-controls, patching-only system.

tbh I’ve pretty much just gone thru modulargrid adding anything interesting without knobs, haven’t thought too hard about whether every module would actually be useful in this rack or whether it’d be possible to make much of any sounds

need one with just fixed frequency waveform/clocks really but I doubt anything that stupid exists, any suggestions? Might actually design one if not

I’m a weird beats type of guy.

My last hoorah into modular is this 6u 54HP sample groovebox centered around the Squid Salmple.

Here’s my first sessions with this set up.

I’m awaiting a Norns shield and am gonna purchase an Analog 4 to tie it all together…

This is fun. Here’s a knobless lfo:

There should be any number of ways to derive clocks from that without resorting to knobs. None come to mind right now though; every solution I think of has a knob.

What’s the one with gears??

@instantjuggler Not sure, some Other/Unknown that came up when I searched Gieskes. So presumably something based on Gieskes motor stuff

@ElectricaNada ha perfect, thanks

I love this as a thought exercise. I feel like it probably deserves its own thread.

for fixed frequency, you could use https://www.modulargrid.net/e/moffenzeef-modular-bad-idea-1800-call-yer-mum

you could get a lot of mileage out of the SoundStage Stereo Spectral Mixer, Vector Space CV Vector Animator, and LRMSMSLR Mid/Side Encoder-Decoder from https://www.worngelectronics.com/

depending on the module you could probably use anything as a clock source from random noise to the fixed sine bank module posted above

This came to mind. In case you’re up for some drums.

I’m sure you can find space for one of these

This is a very interesting thought experiment! I would add a couple of Olegtron r2r modules for variable attenuation without knobs. The MI Links and Kinks might fit well in there as well.
