Why do you dislike 1U? Just curious.

I think its a nice spot for centralizing utilities like attenuators, mults, logic, etc that you may want to be able to use on multiple 3u modules. Should theoretically make for cleaner wiring. Also, seems nice for modules that will work well viewed horizontally, like the steppy or o_C. The steppy in particular feels more “correct” in the horizontal orientation, to me.

I don’t have a horse in the race really, I’m just talking lol.

I actually use 5U/MU.

Looks amazing! What case is that? Also, how do you have it standing?

thanks! it is an mldr 126. it stands on its own but i had to flip it upside down to get it to do that! it is a little weird when you open it upside down but other than that it works out great. it is made of wood and is pretty heavy so it stands pretty solidly.

While I wait for my new cases from Tall Dog to arrive, I decided to cram the most complete system I could into the pod I’ll be using for my control skiff.

All of this will be doing into a 64hp 6u very shortly, which will (ideally also shortly) blossom into this:

Thinking I’ll fill the gap with a Joranalogue Countour 1.

The DPO and the nw2s::io were recent additions and I’m loving them so far.

My little franken-modular.

I’m in an in-between state. Selling off essentially everything except what you see here to grow in these formats a little. But having plenty of fun even now, tbh.

(Don’t tell on me for running Buchla oscillators through the Serge filters!) (It sounds really good though!)

Recently rearranged my rack to open up some space on the main rack, and move the melodicer to sit flat on my desk. Really psyched about this setup. I have distinct areas I work in and can really get into a jam. Plus, I have some nice extra space on the main rack to expand before I convince myself to get a bigger case. This is the rare image where there aren’t a ton of cables and power cords all over the place.

Using the Digitakt and the CV.OCD to control the rack is a dream. The CV sequencing is awesome, but the extra gates are super useful too. So far, I’ve been sequencing rhythms into the choke input on Surface for a really cool texture effect.

Anyone else have cool ideas of things to try on my system (or cool modules that would compliment what I’m doing)?

Hola!

Im not too fond about showing up my OCD euro setup but i thought it was not going to look this tidy any time soon, so i thought i would take some pictures.

But before that let me tell you a short story…

Im a recovering addict and i have been sober for nearly 4 years now. I was close to loosing everything but i got given a second chance.

Know i got two kiddos and im happily married

A few years ago i got really into modular diy and i did not stop compulsively building and soldering until well…pretty much recently.

Its really help me with my other destructive addictions, even thought i do realise this is another kind of habit, but a much more rewarding one…

Id say im 50 % - 50 % between factory made and diy modules at the moment. But if i can diy something i normally sell the original and build the diy version.

Anyways, here is my setup thats has taken me nearly a decade to put together and it has always been evolving.

Right now i got everything tempo synced, so before i bury it in wires i thought i should take some pictures.

Stay safe, enjoy life

Thanks for sharing. Congrats on your sobriety! I’m really happy to see that you found a creative outlet that worked for you. That system there is (without exaggeration) breathtaking.

Congrats on four years! That’s no small feat, speaking from experience. You’re awesome, this system is awesome, and your building skills are awesome.

Make sure to pass the electronics knowledge on to the youngins! It’s super fun when you can connect with parents about nerdy stuff~

Thanks to all for your encouraging comments; its not easy opening your issues publicly like this on a forum, but im getting used to it as the years go by. Yes, 4 years  I spent over two decades just self medicating myself and hurting /using people i love.
Gone with the wind but…sometimes its embarrassing. Its like when you tell someone you have have quit smoking and they say thats great, but if you say you dont drink booze they might look at you ackwardly and there will be a long silence! Used to that one too…nevertheless day by day as its said.
My kids love going into the studio. I always tell them “some day this will be yours” and “dont sell it for what i told you mum it cost!”
Jokes apart, happy to be part of this community:)
And making and playing those machines are lots of fun too! specially when they work
Stay safe
