Rocking a little mini-system until the rest of my 9U case gets the IME treatment later this week…

ha, definitely want to hear this. So much polyphonic sequencing! no VCAs! and amazing halloween/harvestman keyboard matching. Happy to see my argos bleak in such a happy home.

@rstn Yeah! I’ve been VCA-ing with the gates from the Hammer trigging envelopes from Kermit to ping the Lester’s closed filter. Nasty little bass-line machine there. Also, unexpected use case for the Argos was using it’s chord mode to send note-synced modulation to several parameters on the Donut and Lester at once… Love this thing!

Always nice to see a fellow SH mkII user here. How do you like it? What are you favorite tricks?

@Voltmeister Just got it this week, so still early days. One thing I’ve been doing is using it to push CV values manually via the faders through mults, using them kinda like macros on sliders for interesting drone controls. WIll explore this a bit further soon - a second one shows up this week!

Well done! Sending you my best wishes!

Thanks @Ted! Interesting idea! I’ll try that one. Since you’re new to the device, here’s a video I wish existed when I first got it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajDtWHukOec&list=WL&index=5&t=0s

And do make sure you’re on the latest firmware. A lot of bugs got solved over the years.

Great thread - this is my very first rack and entirely new to modular. I totally get the attraction - it’s like Lego!

Any advice is welcome

Im updating the rack with what sits in it now - I’ve lost the ADSR and the delay

Holt crap!! That’s gotta be the bat cave!

VCAs. Mutable has a new 10hp Veils.

In such a small rack I think you might be better served with a smaller MIDI-CV converter to have HP for other things. Do you need a MIDI out?

In/Out modules are questionable. Is it running to a mixer?

(And I’m sure you heard that Emilie advised someone to “keep that spot for the Typhoon open”, alluding to a Clouds successor in a smaller HP)

Thank dude - I’ve just ordered a crow so the Yarns might be on the way out.
For my sins I’m using a nifty case which supports USB and Midi and line out but just mono hence the intellijel outs. In effect I don’t need either, but I’m pretty sure i’m gonna grow this very quickly as I get my head around it more and loose the case for another.

  • do you really need in-the-case midi in? and do you really need ¼" outs?
    • Pico Out, ALM HPO if you don’t care about dual headphones/main outs.
    • CV.OCD for midi to CV, frees up space for let’s say a quantiser, s&h, noise source
  • that ADSR looks a little large to me. same for the Tides, you should really ask yourself what you will use it for.

basically HP is the thing you have least of. worth being extra critical about =]

seconding a few other thoughts in here:
the 10hp Veils that just got released,
a smaller/different midi-cv converter (i recommend the Sol from Winterbloom unless you need 5pin i/o)
maybe a compact dual envelope (i think doepfer also makes one!)
holding off on the clouds since there’s likely to be a second one soon

etc etc! Personally I’d keep the full-size tides because i think the layout is a lot more playable and it’s a module that invites playing, but overall you’re going in a good direction.

My rack for now. Maybe I will add a bit more effect modules but for now the sonic possibilities
are great

These cases are from Modulaire Maritime (France) but the guy is shipping worldwide :ok_hand:

I built this little system around a Birdkids Bataleur System, to function as an expander for modulation, quantization and audio processing. The Bataleur is very portable on its own, even running on USB if necessary and it sounds fantastic. The whole thing fits in a padded record bag nicely.

The skiff is my first foray into modular proper (cold mac will go there). A bit cliche, sure, but classics are classics for a reason. Modular.is.a blast.
