I’ve got some filters I am really happy with - just about to order more pcbs after reworking one of them a fair bit - I can post you some pcbs if you like? (There are five of them I’m really happy with but the wasp and 2144 are really nice… all 4hp). I’ve also got a few other fun modules! (Hoping to get some nice 2130 tzfm pcbs by christmas  )

this to compliment the modcan b system which has continued unchanged. now i just need to wait for pandemic to clear before my conscience will allow me to go to the lumber store to acquire the pieces to build the chonky case onto the rails. interesting that mu can often be “skiff-ready” these days.

How do you like/use the launchpad?

That’s just part of the Five12 Vector sequencer. It extends the physical interface in good ways.

@mdoudoroff seems like we have quite similar setups (well modules actually)
I have not jumped on the launchpad-vector combo.
Does the launchcontrol improve much the workflow with the vector?
I kind of like the vector on its own for now. Are generation functions and other keys / functions that im missing ? Or is it notes and mutes so far?
Thanks for your help! Much appreciated

The Launchpad offers a bunch of additional interface, some of which doesn’t interest me. Two things interest me greatly: first and foremost, you can use the launchpad to switch presets for the different parts, much like a clip launcher. This is vastly preferable to having to navigate to the preset page. The other main benefit to me is the navigational interface it provides for jumping between parts and dashboards.

Thanks for the detailed reply @mdoudoroff. Those are very important facts that can really improve the wok flow. Seems i’ll be getting one too  got a mk2 mini but i’m not sure if it’s compatible, thanks again!

Mk2 should work fine. I think Jim has everything working from the original LaunchPad Pro and original LaunchPad Mini onwards.

Tickled by the implication in these photos that you’ve just pulled a freshly laundered synth out of the dryer.

Very nice. How are you sequencing?

Roughly a year and a half taking my time. If you are good at SMT soldering you can put a moderately complex module together in about 6 hours. I’ve built about 50 so far.

Hey Andy - thanks for putting your CEM3340 VCO design on github! They are the three modules bottom left in my rack posted above. Not sure if you intended to reverse the silkscreen but they came out white with black lettering. I used the SMT assembly service at JLCPCB and it worked out great. VCOs sound great with a ladder filter module I just put together. Very Moogy.

I have a jumbler I’m using, running a keystep pulse. Not doing a whole lot of note sequencing with this system, mostly just taking a a simple clock (if that) and seeing where it takes me.

Thanks Rich!
It’s not a coincidence that all the parts are available at jlcpcb for pcba
The colour is dependent on the choices of colour for soldermask and silkscreen, but allpcb aluminium panels look better with white soldermask, black silkscreen (and are cheaper!) so I do that to get black panels with white writing on ali panels… later modules have gerber for both choices of soldermask/silscreen combination. Sorry for the midunderstanding! (Mine are white writing on black panel  )

I’m now convinced that limiting my choices to individual designers – a Mungo rack and an NLC rack, with strictly few exceptions – was a good step for me (moreover those two are well matched for creative interaction). It’s one way of controlling GAS as well as resulting in an aesthetically pleasing rack/rack section.

But it has its own problems. The NLC overflowed immediately. I’m still not sure moving the in/out and mixing stuff to a pod satellite was the most sensible decision. But it does work, more or less neatly.

I sent my Doepfer case to my friend and she did some amazing pyrography on it:

That’s so nice, I’d be tempted to have the modules facing the wall.

Your NLC rack is so aesthetically pleasing, and it seems extremely fun!

Looks like a pretty brilliant decision. I think i noticed that even before your super fun looking nlc case!

I tried to do something vaguely similar with a 104/1u and found it too large for such purposes (it kinda lost focus), but the pod looks prefect.
