Why not, like a double-press, the step would be half-bright, and would make the counter go backwards.
My only concern is it would be confusing in use.
I’d rather set this for the pad square itself and just add a pendulum mode. (Anyway, this should be in the renome topic !)

Edit 3: Would be nice to be able to set a starting note (so that you could move around in a > 16 pad drum rack)

Great Patch! I had a blast playing around with it right away! Very addicting.

I am trying to add autofocus to it. Here is where I am at: The drum pattern lights are appearing as they should. The bottom control lights are not reappearing though. Maybe @elquinto or @jasonw22 can chime in on what I need to tweak.

Updated :

  • Added a REST input
  • changed the behavior when changing rates : it automatically resyncs the pattern to the new rate value.

hmm i’m not getting any response with my varibright 64. the master device sees it and connects but when i click on the patterns device it’s not sending anything to ableton and there’s no led feedback on the monome. live 9

Insert a silence : while holding the preset button, hit the first pad on the top function row.

I just uploaded the new versions. Please download both, i didn’t change the master’s name but it’s been updated.

Now :

  • The division buttons are flashing in sync with their rate.
  • Top function row button 4 is OVERDUB/REPLACE (hold and play).
  • The Master device has two midi-mappable buttons : resync all seq and global stutter

TIP : you can record an empty pattern entering the number of rests you want and then overdub !

to do : recording a new preset while the previous one is still playing.

I added your Master device to the first post.
Corrected (i think) a bug that could link to weird overdub offsets.
Changed the tempo flashing to 50/50 instead of short pulses.

So no need to update the SLPatternsMaster with autofocus again, you just made changes in
DR_Sat, correct?

Off topic, looking at the file sizes, why does the file size get smaller when I add autofocus? Weird.
