I just uploaded the new versions. Please download both, i didn’t change the master’s name but it’s been updated.

Now :

  • The division buttons are flashing in sync with their rate.
  • Top function row button 4 is OVERDUB/REPLACE (hold and play).
  • The Master device has two midi-mappable buttons : resync all seq and global stutter

TIP : you can record an empty pattern entering the number of rests you want and then overdub !

to do : recording a new preset while the previous one is still playing.

You’re on fire! Can’t wait to explore the update. Thanks.

Hey Jason,
Rest input and Overdub are here now.
I’ll add the note offsets to switch banks within the drum rack.

You’re the best! It’s so much fun, very “live”.

Here is an updated Master with fully functioning autofocus.

Thanks !
I added your Master device to the first post.
Corrected (i think) a bug that could link to weird overdub offsets.
Changed the tempo flashing to 50/50 instead of short pulses.

@chapelierfou,
So no need to update the SLPatternsMaster with autofocus again, you just made changes in
DR_Sat, correct?

Off topic, looking at the file sizes, why does the file size get smaller when I add autofocus? Weird.

Sol Lewitt is a huge inspiration! He has a quite beautiful installation in Atlanta that I pass all the time.

correct, everything seems fine.

You guys are great.

Thanks for all this.
I am out of the internet for a while but I will download this and try to use it this weekend.
Big UP!!!

Hello,
First of all, I had a play today together with Renome for the first time and it is amazing!!!
So groovy!!!

I have spotted some issues:

  1. autofocus unfortunately…some trivial one.
    Before monome would connect to renome regardless I was selecting the satellite or the main master…now only if I select the master track.

  2. it is difficult to sync if I have an external drum machine going. It seems that the seq is not exactly on the 1, but some millisecond later.
    Have you had any issue with that? maybe it is my latency or the “add a way to set first step” in the TO DO list.

Great stuff as usual anyway!!!

thanks

About autofocus : i’ve never dug into this. Someday i guess, i will.
About sync : i’ve never used SL with anything else, so i might have overlooked something. The first thing that immediately comes to my mind is that i am using [metro] for the sync. Maybe the use of [plugsync] instead would clean it up ? Anyone ?
Also, i might not have the chance to work on it for a few days.

@chapelierfou
First thanks for answering promptly :slight_smile:

If you use ableton autofocus is a great feature, I assure you…I do entire songs with one monome and 4 or 5 apps.

Regarding sync, my experience is that you will need to realy be tight to the ableton clock and I reckon plugsync might do the job.
I will try to modify it myself…my only thought is that in this way we will lose the groove.

Anyway I had a lot of fun yesterday!!!

i made a quick test recording the output to another track. The timing seemed quite good.

@bassik,
There is issues with the autofocus maybe messing with some things on this patch. I hacked it in from copying and pasting code from the polygnome patch as I don’t really know max.

I have a lot of work these days, but this is becoming better and better.
I’ll post a new version soon, with many improvements.
Meanwhile, a sneak preview (this version has no corners because it’s meant to be played on a Sol Lewitt sculpture, on 12 spatialized loudspeakers, but i find it nice and this adds clarity to the layout)

This is a prototype of what the final installation looked like :
