Here is an overkill variation of map’s send function I’m trying out. This one has eight pulses across two sends, with three sliders to trigger them. With that many sends in one place you can build things like “8string” with fewer devices. There is also two new sends (in pink) that send on min value, max value, both, and when slider movement stops. Its called swipe:)swp.amxd (495.2 KB)

How will we know if there are updates to the devices and where do we download the updated versions? I’m having a great time with them!

Good to hear, hope to see you in the stream! When there is an update to any device i’ll post on here as well as instagram stories pinned to highlights. The device date in the update zone on smartphones.info will also change.

about a month ago, i had the very sincere honor of speaking with @rjonline00 at length about smartphones, his perspectives as an artist, and his patching process. dude is funny as fuck and really casually brilliant. our conversation was super motivating, so i wrote it up and made some patchers to adapt any m4l device for the smartphones network and am so so excited that jr’s leading today’s cycling '74 newsletter!

curious how do i get started w dial? i can’t seem to figure out how to map specific params.

for example how would i use the triggers to cross modulate the delay times in echo? etc etc etc

Thank you! So for smartphones to modulate a parameter like echo’s delay time, you want to first map that parameter to either [vol] or [env]. After that, match the text for one of dials pink sends to the receiver controlling the mapping. Then set the dial send trigger value to 1 and play a midi note thru the chain. You should then see some knobs moving!
