i used buzz extensively for a few years more than a decade ago. wonderful environment but a bit different. it is in fact a modular tracker. or a modular environment with a tracker interface and classic trackers built in. i used it also for performances and it was rock solid even on old machines (i used it on a very crappy 433 mhz celeron
)
the community was incredible! (the buzzchurch forum). i had one of the developers customize a live performance tool for me two hours before a gig once
i’d like to try it again or to see it reborn (maybe with osx or linux support )

I think it was actually rebuilt by Oskari a few years ago, but I’ve never had the time to go back to it.
I don’t think it’s really the the solution for the OP unless you really want to get into a tracker. It does have a pretty amazing and unique range of instruments and effects though.
