Hi all,

I really hope you guys can help me, I have just spent 3 hours painstakingly soldering the diodes making sure they were in the right orientation and just triple checked that they all are! Started soldering the first led in the corner where the usb port is the led just doesn’t light up when I plug the monome to the computer.

I unsoldered the led thinking I had the orientation was wrong and then plugged the board to an iphone usb charger, I didn’t want to resolder the led so I started rubbing the led where the pads are to try and make contact and I sometimes get a very faint, barely noticeable and irregular blink. looks like the color of the led is white. It’s strange that I don’t get the same faint blinking when plugged in to the computer as opposed to a usb charger.

Now I have purchased the kit from a user on this forum and I don’t know what kind of led they are. they came in a transparent pinkish bag I suppose he purchsed it from monome but not sure.

When I plug the board to a computer and run monome_sum the app doesn’t detect the monome. I guess this is because the leds aren’t soldered?

Can you guys please help me? I have no idea what went wrong and where to go from there.

Thanks heaps
Fabrice

take a photo of the LED soldered onto the board.

what OS and version are you using?

Thanks I think I figured it out for now, for some reason I was expecting the led to blink constantly but then I remembered that it only blinks once, once plugged in. So I resoldered the led in the opposite direction and sure enough I get the blink. which is weird because now it is soldered in what is supposed to be the wrong way (according to the docs) the arrow pointing away from the notch/line/green. Tehn can I purchase from you the orange leds you used on the 128 varibright?

Thanks!
