Serial #11 arrived today. Over the moon. This thing is serious.

Jealous! I’m in the 500s and waiting…

Was there also an option for the plastic cover, carrying bag etc?

No plastic cover but a pretty nice (and unexpected) fitted travel bag with a side pocket for the cables.

All of it covered in enough shrinkwrap to wrap a body, too. Those Russians can pack!

I was looking at expanding my skiff or buying one of the smaller elektron boxes (digitakt or digitone) but I think I will hold off all purchases until I could afford this. It sounds incredible in every single demo.

Syncing a Metasonix D-2000 to a Pulsar-23. Man, they like each other.

Just finished watching the clock tutorial and this is the first major disappointment as the clock divider/multiplier only works with even values that is factors of two and not 3 or 5. This is something I struggle to understand in the instrument with experimental nature. This day and age, do we really need more 4/4?

I fell in love with this instrument upon seeing Vlad’s Superbooth demo, and pre-ordered it. When the manual was published I poured over it - and was also disappointed to find such a 4/4 basis in the otherwise innovative looper and clock system…

…Enter puslar-buddy:

Takes the 32nd note clock input from Pulsar… generates reset pulse for looper at whatever measure and meter you want. Also has a section that produces tuplets at a wide range of ratios.

Also works, BTW, with eurorack and serge - can take clock pulses at ¼, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32 note, or DIN24 or DIN48, or USB MIDI clock - powered either by USB or +12V jack or eurorack power.

This is my rev. A board (and the first PCB I ever designed!) - so I’m very open to design input if folks find this thing intriguing.

Edit: Yes, it’ll all be open source and open hardware.

Great project; looking forward to it. The Pulsar clock is depressingly binary, but I thought you could record Pulsar loops of any random length?

My Pulsar should arrive in the next two or three weeks. Super excited!

How’s the sequencer in use? A friend of mine has an early unit and he shared some complains - it’s as drum machine, sequencing capabilities are important.

LC

It’s not a drum machine, and it doesn’t have a sequencer. It’s a semi-modular percussion synthesizer with trigger cv recorders per voice. If you want a conventional drum machine to program, you’ll be disappointed.

Pulsar Buddy looks really good! My Pulsar is on its way and this would be a great addition. I just can’t do the build so hope that someone can help with that once you’re ready to publish the details.

The pulsar looks amazing. I like it because it is NOT traditional. So the complaints are the positives. If I want to make music like everyone else, I’ll buy mass produced stuff like everyone else. This said does anybody know if this is the same hight as the Lyra 8? Wonder how how they look side by side!

This looks FANTASTIC. Please post a vid when you get it.

Er, I already have it because… I made it! That vid is of the first unit in my studio… (video of it coordinating a Digitakt / Serge duo coming soon).

Look for a new post with more details and discussion in a day or so…

Ah looks super cool. I’m more interested in hearing it a bit. In theory I love it, but I’m looking for that sound ticket to ride.

Yessssssssssssssssssss. Great to read.
