I know, sorry for the surprise, but hopefully it’s a good surprise!

I put this mix together right before your newest releases, otherwise I would’ve chosen from them, but ‘Settling Noises’ is really ace and gave a wonderful close.

@dan_derks I just wanted to say a huge thank you for Sound + Process. Through hunting for interesting sound-related podcasts I found S+P and through that, landed here in Lines. Overall, a pretty excellent sequence of events!

Plus the things Ezra Buchla said about the MS-20 Mini made me love mine even more than I did already!

I’ve watched @wrmhmn perform comedy across Chicago, release an award-winning film she wrote/starred in/scored (2018’s Pet Names), and self-produce/release/promote music as warm human. whatever the pursuit, Meredith leads with her heart – her projects are always rooted in emotional exploration.

she has an album coming out in 2019 called Ghastly. much of the music in this episode is featured from it. every song on it is somehow simultaneously a banger, a ballad, and a bop.

throughout the conversation, Meredith unpacks some complex topics, including: her insecurities while performing live, navigating the ownership a storyteller has over shared experiences, and her struggles with different forms of addiction.

Meredith and I have known each other for the better part of the past five years. and honestly, some of the weirder + worse parts, too – her capacity for understanding the struggles of others is unparalleled. we’d been discussing doing an episode for a while, but once I heard the raw mixes that would become Ghastly, it became imperative. this episode was recorded in my apartment, right after some bánh mì.

I hope y’all dig this one and I’m excited to see the conversation that unfolds

ezra’s episode is hands down one of the most quoted-back-to-me and I love it. that episode is full of killer lessons.

Thanks for doing this, Dan. It was truly an honor to talk at you for an hour about anxiety and performing. I hope people had as much fun listening as I did doing the podcast. If anyone wants to check out Ghastly before it comes out, HMU!
