I’ve watched @wrmhmn perform comedy across Chicago, release an award-winning film she wrote/starred in/scored (2018’s Pet Names), and self-produce/release/promote music as warm human. whatever the pursuit, Meredith leads with her heart – her projects are always rooted in emotional exploration.
she has an album coming out in 2019 called Ghastly. much of the music in this episode is featured from it. every song on it is somehow simultaneously a banger, a ballad, and a bop.
throughout the conversation, Meredith unpacks some complex topics, including: her insecurities while performing live, navigating the ownership a storyteller has over shared experiences, and her struggles with different forms of addiction.
Meredith and I have known each other for the better part of the past five years. and honestly, some of the weirder + worse parts, too – her capacity for understanding the struggles of others is unparalleled. we’d been discussing doing an episode for a while, but once I heard the raw mixes that would become Ghastly, it became imperative. this episode was recorded in my apartment, right after some bánh mì.
I hope y’all dig this one and I’m excited to see the conversation that unfolds
