Stuck button on Norns Shield

The K1 button on my Norns Shield goes down and goes come back up. Well, eventually it pops back up, but not quickly.

Has anybody seen this before? Any ideas for fixing it? A spray, maybe?

Looks like the button is getting caught on the faceplate. Could be because the switch is soldered in slightly askew?

Solutions:

  • loosen the screws on the top plate and slide the clear-faceplate to accomodate it.
  • enlarge the hole for the button slightly by (very carefully) sanding the hole (a piece of sandpaper wrapped around pencil would work well).

I guess you could first confirm that getting stuck on the clear plate is the problem by removing it, and checking the button responds correctly. If it still gets stuck without the top plate it sounds like a problem with the switch.

Yeap i have something like this. Loosening the screws and retightening them again solves it for me – it’s just the sides of the holes touching the buttons.

I also lost some of the screws so I’ve got only ½ or ⅔ of them anyway.

The advice to fiddle around with screws was the right thing.

The cause was that the two screws by the button had come loose, which I think allows the faceplace to become askew, which causes the button shaft to get caught.

The solution was just to tighten the screws.

Thanks, all!
