So, Modular Addict and Thonk both sold out of Turing Machine kits prior to my girlfriend ordering them. And since my friend won’t be able to help me with building things until after the new year anyway, I decided I’d buy @danielrdehaan’s Sputnik Quad VCF/VCA in the time being. Here’s what it’ll look like until 2018.

Slightly off-topic: I got a notification last night that I had earned my “Regular” badge already, despite having only been on lines for about a month.

In the short time I’ve been a member of the community here, I’ve already purchased three used modules from the Trade section (thanks to @ellips_s, @samn, and @danielrdehaan) and plan to do so even more throughout 2018. I’ve have reservations about buying used modules from people on MW and the FB modular sale groups, but for some reason, I’ve never had any concerns about buying things from people here. I’m really happy that finding @dan_derks’ podcast and then unexpectedly meeting and chatting with him and @shellfritsch at a show conviced me to finally stop occasionally lurking and join the forum. I like it here.

My family decided to surprise me with an iPad for Xmas, so I’m going to add it to my overall setup. I bought Audulus on my phone during their Black Friday sale, and I’ve reinstalled it on my iPad which will make it a million times easier to use. Any other apps I should keep in mind? I know something like Audiobus or AUM will come in handy, but with regards to useful, must-have apps, I’m not sure what’s out there and will actually get repeated use from me.

Also, I don’t expect to have an ES-8 anytime soon, but it’s now on my wishlist unless I find a worthy alternative before then. I know there are a number of MIDI-to-CV options out there, but I don’t know where to start.

Remember how I was planning to start cheap and move up toward things I want later on down the road? So much for that. I keep a constant eye on the Trades section and, once again, this forum comes through for me. I’d been watching lots of videos of performances / patches featuring the Telharmonic prior to @fourhexagons posting one up for sale, and now I’m going to be buying Bryan’s Telharmonic as a birthday present for myself.

And pretty much anything you can grab from the audio damage folks is top notch, yes, the same audio damage guys from the euro modules do awesome VSTs and ipad apps, crazy stuff totally worth checking out.

I’m planning to buy yet another module from a lines member (this time, a modDemix from fellow Chicagoan, @Tyresta), and I’m also planning to sell the Quattro Figaro that I just can’t seem to gel with. How the case will look with the modDemix and without the Quattro Figaro:

Lots of kit builds on the top row and 28HP to spare since I’m undecided on what else to throw in. Smaller things–offset/attenuators, logic, sequential switches, S&H, etc–will likely end up there but I’m not 100% decided on any particular thing just yet. Thoughts/suggestions/advice?

I’m desperately trying to make space for the Folktek Alter 2.

Just got to sell and reshuffle a few things. I’ve spent a few hours with the Folktek Conduit and it reminded me of how a modular should be something that you can explore like an instrument. Not just a problem-solving system for timbral urges. I hadn’t felt like that since day 2 with the Phonogene.

Maybe an analog, “simple” VCO? Something like a Dixie or similar could be nice for FM or just simple sounds along with your more complex digital oscillators, plus such a VCO could also serve as another voltage controlled LFO.

You could also look at the Plague of Demons by Nonlinear Circuits for a powerful DIY VCO. I haven’t built one yet but have heard good things!

I’ve been considering an Dixie or an STO for a while, and didn’t realize until recently that I’ve bought most of the modules that make up a System Cartesian.
