@its_your_bedtime - thanks so much - I get the CC adjustment thing now. dunno why I didn’t get it before. super useful.

re: the polyphonic output, I’ve been thinking about how to offer this with minimal UI changes.

one idea would be to offer chord shapes from a standard list (Major, minor, Dim, M7, m7, etc) instead of allowing the selection of individual notes a la Digitakt.

the UI could then be a minimal change where a chord shape could be selected by holding K2 or K3 and scrolling E3 to select a chord instead of an individual note, with the root note being set by the existing note value entry. If in chord mode, the “note” graphic could be replaced with a symbol for the chord shape selected - even if that was just CH and a number.

This way there’s no need for separate screens and it could keep the whole workflow pretty quick and painless.

Just an idea at this stage, and happy to hear what others think.

I’m happy to have a go at doing this, but I can wait until you’ve had a chance to update to the new clock library if that is immanent.

In any case, thanks again for all your efforts!

Hi,

trying to find my way into Takt. This is an awesome application! Thanks a lot for that.

I have some difficulties to explore all features because as far as I see the originally linked documentation does not seem to reflect the current version. There are some (very nice) images with updates documented linked in this thread but I wonder if there is a complete documentation of the current version somewhere available?

Also one thing I would be interested but could not yet find out: Can Takt be clocked externally via Midi? If yes, can this be done via Parameters > Edit > Clock (I tried that, but it did not seem to work).

was just playing with takt and noticed a couple of bugs

sometime the sample start point doesn’t update when i change the value - i find that i have to turn it past halfway into the sample to get it to “take”

the sustain/release doesn’t seem to be working. when i release a note the sample will keep playing until the out point, regardless of release amount.

external midi keyboard input is working nicely - thanks for this new feature! sometimes notes entered with the keyboard don’t use the latest amp settings, but if those notes are recorded to a sequence the amp settings “take”.

i find it’s pretty easy to get double note triggers when playing notes in via grid.

hope these bug reports are helpful
thanks again for making such a wonderful sampler on norns!

love this script !!! really takes the coolest aspects of the octatrack and makes them immediate and fun. thank you for the script. gonna put in real practice with this one as i can see myself using it a lot.

i was having this same issue. cant get the sample to not trigger in its entirety.

Really awesome!
can anyone tell me that it is also possible to use it via midi and not necessarily with a GRID?

Thanks in advance!

This is not, so far as I know, at all possible @avenir

It doesn’t look like that after midi sequencing has been implemented:)
Should it work with any controller that responds to notes by simply selecting the sample slot first, then assigning the note number on the controller pad or am I wrong?
I’m trying to map the samples using the beatstep pro but it doesn’t seem to work. in addition, positioning on the note, I cannot open the MIDI screen. Logically, for example, I map the BD on the C note of the BSP, after the snare on the C# note, but it does not seem to incorporate the changes.

Thanks for any advice @its_your_bedtime

Yeah, you cant assign different samples to notes atm, only live midi input on selected track and midi out sequencing possible

Thanks for this great app! Super fun, and really pushing the limits on the UI!

2 things came to mind:

I can changer the clock from the app’s main screen but not the edit screen (they seem completely disconnected). This means I can’t get midi clock sync to work (it doesn’t change the tempo of the playhead in the app), though I can see the BPM value change on the edit page when midi clock is selected as I alter the BPM on my Octatrack.

Any chance of an “auto channel” set of parameters to map to midi? This means that besides each track’s parameters being midi mappable, there’s also/instead a mappable set of parameters associated with the auto channel which will control only a parameter on the selected track. For example, you could use a midi controller to map “auto channel filter cutoff” which would control cutoff of track 1 if track 1 is selected and cutoff of track 4 if track four is selected. This way you can have all the parameters mapped with only a fraction of the number of physical midi controller knobs/faders/encoders you would otherwise need.

@its_your_bedtime - just wanted to join the masses giving props to Takt. Have been using it a lot. Thoroughly looking forward to being able to clock via MIDI when the time comes, so great to hear that you’re planning on doing this. Thanks so much for making such a great script!

Hi everyone!
Now having grid I’ve been enjoying this script very much!
I’m not sure if it has been mentioned before but I keep having a little problem with the build in sample browser. Going down directory on some folders, norns freezes. I did have similar problem once with CC and amon tobin’s sample pack (i thought it could be due to some unrecognised characters that some names have there) but this is a different folder with no special characters in the file names.
Also, I have the upgraded CM3+ card if that makes any difference.
Huge big ups for this script tho!

Edit:
I figured it out, It’s the length of the name of the folder. It works from norns browser (parameters) but if the name is too long the script freezes.

If you could DM me some examples of folder names that are causing issues and steps to reproduce I’d be interested to see!

Done, let me know if you would need any further info.

Is there any way of chaining the patterns and changing the trigger timer of the patterns? I had a read through the docs and couldn’t find an answer.

Is there a way to have a sample that you’ve just recorded get auto-assigned to a track? It seems like after I record a sample, I have to go load it on the track.

Takt is the MAC DADDY!

such an ineresting script… I’m about to deep dive into it, as I just got a neotrellis grid  But, after loading my first sample, the sound appears to be highly bit-crunched/distorded… Do you have any advices about this behaviour? I’ve tried to reinstall both Takt and Ack… reset the Norns… nothing have changed…

Thanks in advance for your help!

i also have problems with takt, when i load the script everything ok, but when i try to load any sample norns becomes totally irresponsive, but grid keeps run/stop.

Will this work for takt?

No idea what I’m doing but desperate enough to try…

Just getting started with takt, new grid owner (never used any electron gear). I’ve looked through the thread but can’t seem to find info, can the TONAL input be live recorded to the step sequencer? Can individual steps be input from the tonal layout?

Edit: found it!

Just wondering if there will be any further development on this script or did Elektron send out a cease and desist order? :man_shrugging:
