I had a really strange one happen. I had the XY running over USB into Ableton on my Mac. I was getting ready to record a little video jam and the XY crashed on boot. My fear that I was going to lose everything like @KHAGE crept in, but I rebooted and everything came up just fine… but…
I recorded the video and then noticed my left channel was basically gone from the XY in Ableton. I tried everything and could not get it back. Here’s where it starts to get weird - I opened up Adobe Audition and tried recording from there and it sounded/looked fine. Headphones on XY sounded fine.
I tried a bunch of things but what got it to work was creating an aggregate device with the OP1F replacing the inputs (1/2) that the XY was previously using. Maybe this was an Ableton Live beta bug, but I’ve never had anything like that happen before. Was very strange.

Just wanted to report a cool happy accident that occurred last night. I connected the opxy to the op1f over usb and created an accidental feedback loop that sounded great! The feedback responded to the dynamics of what was playing on the xy. I tried a bunch of master effects on the op1 - terminal was most interesting but the reverbs worked great. You can tune it all and control levels with the op1 eq. I’ve been doing this kind of thing with Springray and 3sisters for a few years but never imagined it could work well and sound good in digital world, especially with audio over usb! Might be that some midi is affecting the audio dynamics too. I didn’t work it all out I jus spent a couple of hours exploring

How did it go ?
Did you managed to upload more than 3-4Go before crashing your OP-XY ?
I think that’s about the limit I’ve reached so far…

I got up to 2gigs, but ran out of samples. no crashes yet, but I have noticed that the start up time seems longer with more samples on board.

2Go is OK.
I don’t have any trouble uploading 2-3Go at ounce… but after that, my OP-XY is definitely struggling.
I’m trying to understand if I’m missing something about creating a submix to the multi out when set to audio. I can’t see it in the manual but thought I’d read it somewhere here. Anyway, looking at the signal flow I am wondering what the “in/out” refers to - I’ve circled it below.
I feel like having a submix for the multi out provides so much utility for the output that it’d be a shame to miss it and I really tho k I’m missing something

I have not tried this, so I might be mistaken, but I believe this diagram is referring to the fact that the multi out can function as an insert for outboard effects/processing. So it is true you could specify, by track, what to send to the multi-out, but it can also be returned and then processed in to the final mix.
Edit: this likely also means that the multi-out is mono, but maybe there’s a way to say you won’t be using it as a send/return.

I’ve been using the send/return with norns and from what I can tell it’s stereo. I’m using stereo cables both ways anyway.

So it sends stereo out through the multi-IO and then accepts it as a return on the normal stereo line in?

yep, you configure the return on the aux/input track

Oh great but how do you specify what goes to the multi out? Or is it only the main mix?
@Justmat thank you so much. I knew I had seen it but just couldn’t find my way back

After almost two weeks of attempts and yet another OP-XY factory reset, I finally managed to upload 4.45 GB of presets and samples.
During this process, I had to reboot the OP-XY a number of times and it crashed twice, but miraculously, this time I didn’t lose anything.
I won’t tempt the devil any further, and can only hope that the OP-XY doesn’t give me any nasty surprises when I use it.

Finally got round to this and there’s some great ideas for live resampling and play back. You need to have an empty drum sampler abs manually sample into the slots but you can pre set the sequencer so it sounds tight. Any miss timing with the snapping creates interesting swing and grooves. I tried a proof of concept but looking forward to exploring it fully

Sampling into a sequence that’s already running sounds awesome. Would anyone be up for shedding light on this process for those of us too buried in toddler life to parse the stream?

ya just got me xy yesterday and this has been throwing me off itll be nice to have the ability to just copy paste the whole scene instead of having to manually duplicate or create new individual patterns which can get a little tedious when in the flow of things even @jakecarter has mentioned this.
Also another funny omission….seems no parameter locks on the samplers?
Wanted to so some short looping start end point automation and got nothing…but u can assign the pitchbend and then itll record it.
Thats a pretty cool feature overall. Was skeptical of its being carried over from the Z but im liking the response…although playing with the sensitivity settings doesnt change much? Itll be nice if they can add a slew time for it per instrument. Oh and also cant do tape stop with it like on the Z.

Ooooo… could you expand on how you achieved this?
Yeah I would really love to see this as well. I tried it and was bummed I couldn’t record some loop craziness.
Is the svf filter really only a lowpass? Or am I unable to find the way to make it variable. Was really hoping for a notch in there. Like why call it an svf
