I talked to TE and they said its supply chain issues in China. Cables should be here in a few weeks

From the way he talks about it, it sounds like maybe this feature isn’t exposed yet, but is coming? Either way, excellent news about the one major shortcoming I kept coming back to. May pull the trigger when somebody gets around to marking them 10% off, which should be enough time for a firmware revision or two to land.

USB audio with Norns and recording to thumb drive are pretty rapidly moving TX-6 from “nice it exists for some people” to “if I get a bit better paying job…” category for me. Damn.

Could someone elaborate what exactly the connection between norns and tx-6 offers?

there is a norns mod called autojack that enables norns to receive audio over usb. you can then plug in the tx-6 via usb and transmit the mix to norns.

it gives you 12 mono/6 stereo inputs to norns scripts (mixed down to stereo)

I see. Thanks for explaining, Mat.

I just tried a thumb drive via an apple USBC :arrow_right: USBA dongle and nothing showed up in the tx-6 menu’s about it.

I get the feeling that this is coming soon, and was created as a companion to the OP-1F.

I think we’ll get something along these lines in the coming weeks as the OP-1F hits more mailboxes.

Hope that we don’t learn that the “6” in TX-6 is actually for minutes-of-recording-time.

The thing that puzzles me is that at least in the promo shots, the OP-1F is connected to TX-6 via USB cable. I guess that means the USB-C port is not available for inserting a thumb drive for recording…?

Let’s see

(Btw. just noticed that OP-1F has the same power switch as well, so they must think it’s really a good one mechanically!)

nah i think they meant that the feature will be ready soon

probably the same update that solidifies tx6-op1f connectivity (but as i type this…wouldn’t op1 and tx just work?)

for personal clarity, tx6 can be used with active studio monitors right? just split the 1/4" trs out to each monitor? i saw glia use monitors but via a lil mixer

Folks been using their mixers? How has the experience been over the two weeks? I have sold a bit of euro to make this purchase less offensive to my sensibilities…
Definitely thinking I want this thing!

mines headed back to sweden because I’m a diva about one of the faders catching at the bottom. I really do miss it though, it’s such a great swiss army knife to have around the studio. I really enjoy just being able to plug headphones into it and play around with an idea. Especially useful if you like to have a little reverb or compression on the end and dont want to fire up a daw or use the patchbay etc.

I was initially about this thing purely as a mixer that was roughly the dimensions (albeit significantly smaller) that I was dreaming of in a mixer. What has been the most surprising though is how for me it has revolutionized recording. The ability to interface with my phone has brought the daw back into my flow in a way that is unobtrusive. Now, my particular quirks with recording are perhaps unique to me (for instance, I abhor the process of taking out sd cards and pulling tracks off into the computer/renaming those tracks etc. just to get to what I also find to be an uninspiring and arduous process of mixing/mastering). Now, I record direct to GarageBand iOS and when I want to open the project in Logic later to fuss with it, it is there in the cloud. It has all become very seamless in a way that just works well for me and eliminates a lot of the little annoyances of recording process.

That being said, as a mixer, I am still learning to gel with this little guy and I suspect it will take time for me to fully feel comfortable on it. I still wish it were like 1.5x larger. For me, it definitely lends itself to a set it and forget it way of mixing, but with time I hope to get more comfortable with quick tweakings to bring it more playability.

i’ve been enjoying mine! the user interface is quite intuitive and i’ve already put the manual in a drawer. the ease of transition from mixing/playing live to recording is a wonderful thing. i’ve been recording way more than normal because of this. i also find it very playable, despite the size! the faders are nice and smooth with a little bit of “weight” to make it feel like you’re actually pushing something.

if i had to leverage a complaint it would be that the effects, though great sounding, aren’t malleable. i’d love a few params per fx for tweaking, especially with the delay and reverb.
