Considering getting that small speaker just for the novelty and price, not necessarily because I need it. Has there ever been a bluetooth speaker of similar quality or brand pedigree priced at just $20? I suspect they will fly off the shelves with impulse buyers based on that price point alone.

Major kudos to them for including 3.5mm line in on all of these, by the way, leaving the door open for us portable gear musicians and buskers. (Hell, at that price, I could afford to have a tiny speaker on dedicated duty for each of my synths)

They have line in?! Sold.

My Sonos is going in the bin, constantly disconnects. I want cables.

Ikea UK support won’t even confirm it exists.

Minnesota Ikea just got them in stock today - For those that are trying to find out if they are in stock at their store, here are the article numbers on the lights. Just call customer service and ask when they will have stock at your store.

Edit: went to the store and they didn’t have them out on the floor yet. Asked if they could get them for us to purchase and they couldn’t get them yet ( Despite customer service saying that they were available).

The hype is building up for me, damn you! Kapitalist Ikea bullshit, and hipster TE stuff… Nah ok I kinda love TE.
Well, here in Sweden everything is silent about them… but I read somewhere official launch date is 7feb. Would like to se some hands on reviews!

light nerd question:

are the LEDs cool white or warm white? i can’t stand cold white LEDs - and my gut tells me that is exactly what these are… but when you look at the promo brochure, you can see all the lights have been shifted to look very nice and warm.

any estimation on loudness & size?

i think they are named after their size but i dont know if its inches or cm

inch would make sense as they are speakers.
…but also cm , as they are Swedish

They are cold:

Upon testing the speakers at Ikea I would say that the $149 version with the sub doesn’t sound much better if at all than the $69 speaker offered in the series. I picked up the little $20 Bluetooth speaker as I was traveling and could not get anything larger. The little speaker obviously doesn’t have the best sound quality but can be an alternative for op-1 and op-z users with a bit better quality than the onboard speaker on the go. The purchase was more of a novelty purchase for me. The speakers would be pretty cool if they all had batteries but as far as I know they all rely on dc power except for the smallest $20 speaker

All the speakers can be battery powered with certain IKEA rechargeable batteries, but only the smallest one comes with a battery already installed.

It’s listed as an option in the manual, and I think it’s the same batteries that the IKEA eneby speakers take.

I fear I may have to use eBay to get these.

Ikea has a page on their website now, it states that the collection will be available in February

Did you actually turn up the sub? There is a volume dial on the back. It makes a huge difference

For sale online in the UK at the end of January.

Hmm these are interesting. I wish they took a little more inspiration from all the fun party lights in the 70’s and also most of those had a sensitivity pot on the back for the microphone to dial in the loudness of the music. I agree the blue color is kind of off putting like white light is great during the day but at night when you want to party and chill it needs be warm like fire

Stick a coloured sweet wrapper over it.

I’m still deciding what I want in my studio. I don’t need extra speakers but my wireless speakers do cut out a lot.

I like the modular nature. I think I’ll get the big speaker combo with 4 lights and associated toys.
