My TT was used and the panel had seen better days –plus I always wanted black. The Pusherman panel is solid. It’s aluminum with a bit of a texture on it. The smallest hex key I could find was 1.5mm which was too big for the screen protector screws. I ended up filing the hex key down a little and finally got the screws out. Jacks and led diffusers all fit great.

Is it lighting playing tricks, or do some (older?) Teletypes have an amber display, rather than the current greenish-yellow one? If so, is that display still available? Would love to use it for DIY.

Beautiful

It’s a bit off-topic but could you briefly explain how did you go about making that pcb panel?
I’m looking into this right now for other projects, I made illustrator files but i’m a bit lost after that… Thank you.

I think he bought the panel from the pusherman shop (https://pushermanproductions.com/). Pusherman started as a pcb/panel groupbuy Facebook group and became a shop for eurorack pcbs and panels.

Just google e.g.„frontpanel pcb“ and you‘ll find infos how to make your own panels.
Maybe a starting point:
https://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=180347

Basically you need a software for pcb design (kicad, eagle etc…) in which you make the panel design and export gerber files. (As far as I know you can import graphic files from illustrator etc). These gerber files are needed for the Pcb fabrication or in your case the panel fabrication if you want to make panels out of pcb material (this is what the guy from pusherman does)
Another option would be to use a service like schaefer:

https://www.schaeffer-ag.de/en/front-panel-designer

They offer their own panel design software

Hope that helps

Edit: just saw that pusherman also offers aluminum panels. So I guess it’s also possible to get aluminum panels from the pcb manufactures.

Thank you for the detailed answer

I already looked a bit into it and (I think) got the basics, I thought @hi.mo made his own panel as it looks like a PCB frontpanel (doesn’t seem textured like the ones from pusherman) and I guessed it was made from the pdf files monome provides on github.
I guess I’ll experiment a bit, and maybe try to do my own Terminal / Txo / Txi black panels (pusherman only does alu for the expanders)

If you do a run of black pcb panels I would love to get in on that. Also Ansible would be amazing.

Hello there, as reijo said I got the panel from pusherman, its black alu, just bad camera and lighting combo!

Thank you for the answer, I’ll post here if I do my own run of black panels (need to build a TT before).

@tehn sorry for the question.
Im going to build one tomorrow, may i ask what is the meaning of the pcb markings thats say
12864UCY3-OPEN
12864WDY3-CLOSE
I know it refers to the lcd display, i have the WDY3 but im lost btw.
Many thanks and thumbs up for making this open source!

there’s a jumper right above the text. close it for the WDY3 p/n.

You mean the two pins on the left of the text? Is it this one?
Thanks!

edited: you mean R48?

r48 correct…

Thanks @tehn !

Looking forward to building this one,

Cheers!

arggggghh i finished the build only to find out i got the lcd one with the molex connector :frowning:
Got confused and did not get the one with the pins for the pcb.
Wondering if its worh the effort trying to make my own connector but it doubt it :frowning:

Edited:

@hi.mo and @tehn could you please let me know what light diffusers your are using and what is the spacer size and boltt diameter used?

Thanks!

Lcd is Out of order everywhere :frowning:

@tehn do you think this would work?

Apologies for the macro bumping of this thread.

So i have used one of my fates lcds (NHD-2.7-12864WDW3 OLED Display)
and im struggling on how to actually flash the teletype.

i have tried powering the module with the button pressed to go into bootloader mode, then i plug the usb cable from the teletype to the computer (the correct data usb cable)

My computer (mac) does not read the device.

Im trying to follow the github teletype instructions but im lost.

Have tried installing from the latest release 3.1.0 and clicking on the update_firmware.command but it says not dfu detected:frowning:

I have installed dfu programmer from homebrew like indicated.

Im trying to follow up the libavr32 install instructions, but i dont know if im doing the right steps.

Can anyone share a a dummies procedure to flash teletype?

I have flashed many mutable modules and updated ansible / teletype before, but im lost on actually flashing it.

Much appreciated!

Could someone give me the part number for the led diffusers? I bought a black panel to put on my teletype but don’t want to Rick breaking the ones from the original panel

Ordering boards this week for this project. excited

Might use these as a way to spruce on my TX’s.

Hi @thopa did you get it flashed, in the end? I’m guessing you have to do it via the micro header, rather than the USB, but maybe I’m wrong.
