Nice work. I’ve been using TT for a while, but still managed to learn some new tricks in ep. 1.

Thanks. I have a feeling we’d all learn a bunch of new Teletype tricks if we could look over each other’s shoulders.

BTW, are the scripts posted somewhere?

Not yet. I upgraded to the latest Teletype beta to test and totally forgot to back these up first! I’ll recreate and post them soon though.

Thanks for giving this a shot. I much prefer reading to learning through videos, especially 47 minute videos. If you continue this I think that small chunks - say 10 minutes at a time - would work better.

Thanks for the feedback. I’ll take that into consideration.

If I can chime in i actually like the hour long videos, its keeps the flow going than rather changing videos often.

My 2 cents

Me too. It’s a perfect length to help pass my daily commute to and from work.

Perhaps it might be worth taking a poll to get a sense of preferences, which could be helpful to others thinking of making instructional/inspirational videos…

One aspect of the index/learning center proposal I’m working on is to have links to videos, so this is great!

Good discussion here. I didn’t really have a video length goal in mind when I made these first two episodes. My goal was to try to demonstrate a cluster of concepts, and to hopefully leave people with a useful scene that they feel empowered and inspired to modify and experiment with.

One possibility is that if future episodes come out on the long side, I could try to include some chapter markers so that there are logical stop and return points that are easy to find by scrubbing. I’ll give a little thought to what might work to accommodate different preferences.

Just wanted to chime in to say that this is quite lovely so far. Friendly and approachable, almost ‘midwestern’ in vibe (Joe Pera Talks With You comes to mind, if you’re familiar at all with that funny and oddly hypnotic show. Highly rec’d, anyway) It feels like having a casual conversation with a smart but chill friend who invited you over to show you the Teletype on a Sunday afternoon. I wish I had this when I was starting out!

Ha, thanks. I’ve lived in Ohio my entire life so the midwestern vibe is authentic.

20 characters of gratitude and support. My vote definitely goes to longer videos. Chapter / timecode markers are a bonus but totally optional, especially if making them would disrupt your creative process or thoughts.

ps: lol i also discovered they work great as ASMR, they definitely have nice and much anticipated calming effect on me!

I’m chiming in on the longer videos too as I appreciate not rushing through things. Taking the time to allow a patch to develop with a subject as deep as things like the Teletype, ER-301, and the peripherals on the edge of such a setup require a more focused approach.

I’m thinking I will stick with ‘long form’ but try to include some kind of chapter markers or time code for the next one and see how it goes. This shouldn’t require too much extra effort if I know up front I’m going to do it.

I like what loopop does with his videos. Even though I usually watch them start to finish it’s nice to be able to go back and review a particular section easily. Not sure I’ll take it to that level, but will try for something that accommodates those who prefer shorter sessions.

We’ll see what comes out.

@EqualTemperament - I think the videos resonate with the folks who were expressing recently that the teletype studies didn’t quite do it for them, so that is great! Keep the long format. I love the idea of the chapter markers, which will definitely make them more ‘skimmable’ and fun for those of us who have been using teletype for a while or feel more comfortable.

Great videos - just like your ER-301 ones. I agree with all those that prefer the long format or whatever is easiest for you to keep churning out more!

Great videos! Thank you for doing this. I don’t own the TT (yet), but this gives me a real insight into what it means to work and play with it.
I just watched both episodes and I really enjoyed the pace and length. Much appreciated in these times of small snippets and superficial content. Thank you!!

I hope the videos are moving you towards the buy button rather than away from it. Teletype is a really fun and versatile module!

Yes, totally in favor of the buy button! It seems the TT works almost exactly how I expected it to work.
Looking forward to the next episode.
