give some version information? live, os, etc? grid? serialosc version?

live 9.5…2012 128 vari-bright…serialosc 1.4….osx 10.8.5

I was running into it sometimes on live 9.2 as well.

Live 9.5
OSX 10.10.5
Walnut 128+64 (no varibright)
serialosc 1.4

It happens when I shuffle tracks around to a different order. I think as long as I’m not doing that it will not appear.

I’m also having this problem but this is like my first night with the monome.

I’m finding that some of the effects don’t recognise the Grid. Flin is the main one of these that I’m noticing. All others are intermittent.

I tried Sum which worked, including Flin so I know the monome works.

When I tried with the Ableton Push connected, all effects lost the ability to see the Grid.

I’m running Live 9.5, Windows 7, varibright 128 (currently sold Grid), and whatever the latest serialosc is. I assume 1.4

@eleventhstage……I notices that the ā€œtrackā€ setting where you connect to your grid in the m4l patches was changing for some reason when i would add new tracks. See if this is happening. If it is just change it back and that should solve the connecting issue.

Not sure if anyone has noticed (sorry cannot find by searching) but if I have one instance of flin and then other patches in other tracks (having polygome and steps) the column activated in flin reducing the brightness of the corresponding columns even in the other tracks (polygome and steps).

I am on a 128 varibright (wood edition) and using autofocus track.

Looking at the patching I can see that only flin has a command who set the brightness of the buttons…might be the case?

Thanks

will terms work with ableton live intro? …or is standard or suite version required?

In order to use terms, or any other max for live devices, you must either purchase max for live as an upgrade from live standard (not sure about intro), or purchase live suite which includes max for live. Log into your ableton account and you can see your current licenses and upgrade options.

can I ask a super n00b question. Running terms for first time with my varibright and when using steps it seems the pitch is upside down (or the timeline is reversed). Is that normal or did I some how crazily mess up my build?

Not in front of my monome but I think it’s normal - some monome step sequencers think up is up and some think up is down! Step is a very basic sequencer - search for mark eats sequencer for a much more fully featured one.

Thanks man. Really appreciate it

Did anyone ever figure out a solution to this problem? LaunchD would work really well for me but because I have a non-varibright 64 I can’t tell which scene is currently playing. To either have the playing clips flashing or to have the scene itself lit up would be incredibly useful.
Also would love the ability to scroll left and right. Should I just be looking into using LiveControl via monome bridge?

I find that pages worked the best for that type of thing. I’ll take a look at launchd later on. I faced that issue but never got around to actually looking into it, just used it as motivation to start saving up for a 128

I didn’t revisit this no, assuming it’s still the same but I haven’t double checked.

So I’m completely new to the party and I feel like I’m missing a crucial step: installed terms, restarted ableton, connected monome 128 and…nothing. I don’t see the monome listed in the drop down at the top of the devices or anywhere else in Ableton.

I’m guessing I might need an application running in the background to connect monome osc-land to ableton-land, or at least a control surface extension that I need to drop in the ableton application package. Do I need to download a helper application or something to get terms to see the monome?

Also: I’m running the newest version of live if that’s pertinent.

^New user here too, on a Mac as well. I’m running the newest version of Live just like you and Terms runs flawlessly for me. Did you have a look at the setup guide?

http://monome.org/docs/setup/

I read that and downloaded the FDTI driver newest version. It was slightly confusing for me trying to use the Mac terminal and I ran into a password problem when trying to execute the install. So I just took a shot in the dark and fired it up without updating the FDTI driver and haven’t had a problem. But I think that’s because my OS hasn’t ever been older than 10.9 on that machine. You’ll see when you look at the guide.

I did however install serialosc at the top of that link I posted. I also installed sum and ran that before trying Terms. Not sure if that had anything to do with my success but it’s been working great so far.

Bingo, that’s what I needed. Didn’t come across that link via the way I found out about / downloaded terms (Ableton site).
