What are everyone’s thoughts on a good stereo reverse delay unit? Preferable Eurorack, but standalone is also fine.

this new BBD sounds really nice and “tapey” to me

i like how clean they got the repeats

You can trick the Reflex Liveloop into being a reverse delay. It’s confusing to do at first but once you memorize the button combos it becomes second nature, and it does some really awesome things. It uses the mode where you can set an echo’s start and end points along the delay buffer and you end up being able to edit those in real time as it’s reversing your repeats, along with being able to modulate their pitch on top of that if you want. It’s one of my favorite things about this module.

It’s big, pricey, and not available yet but Synth Tech’s forthcoming e520 will have stereo reverse and many, many other delay types. I was thinking of getting old blood noise endeavor’s Rever pedal but backed this project and am just gonna have to wait. :expressionless:

I think the DIG is going to be the answer. At the end of the day, the sound just reaches out to me. That’s usually as good a reason as any.

The BIM is next on my list, but is a bit rich for my blood at the moment.

I recently picked up an Erica Synths Black Stereo Delay. Very playable and the ping pong tape delay sounds lovely to my ears with the feedback cranked up. Have a listen!

Disting. A few people have mentioned in the thread & I have to agree, the standard clockable ping pong is fantastic & I’d had the module for a couple of years before I tried it. A bit overdriven & smeary to my ears, kind of sounds like an MXR Carbon Copy pedal. Try it if you have a disting, it’s in all the versions I think

anyone know why the ibanez de7 has gained so much popularity again on reverb? i mean i’m a fan and have one. Didn’t know if i missed something extra.

I’m pretty sure this is the culprit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qD1tW-tBBOo&feature=emb_title

It’s a good delay, a go to for sure but alway a backup

I’m a massive fan of Dynacord. I have the VRS-23 and it’s one of those effects that tracks get written around. I would love to get the Dynacord SRS-56 and maybe I will next year
The DRS-78 is a bit of an odd one. I have it, but it’s a very different beast, and I have yet to still gel with it.

Hah, when I lived in Paris I had a friend who had a borderline insane collection of Dynacord rack effects, mostly delays… I guess you would like his basement/studio .

Oh wow!! I would love to see/hear that.
Yeah they definitely have a great sound and can still find some of them reasonably priced.

I thought I wanted a Shallow Water, but after doing some more research (inspired by reading Pedal Crush) I think Meed Maude might be more what I’m looking for.

…or possibly Adineko or Black Fountain or Space Spiral. It’s hard to decide. Has anyone tried more than one of those?

I just got a Paradox Arquitecto “Fictional Space Reverberator.” It sits in that space between delay and reverb but also chorus. Dual echoes, both dark and moderately to heavily modulated depending on toggle switches. One of them has a fixed predelay and modulated taps, while the other seems more like a fixed delay time but with vibrato-ish diffusion. There’s also a momentary switch to increase the feedback, but it isn’t infinite and never self-oscillates.

Overall it’s very wet and wobbly and gives a reverb-like ambience. Knobs to tweak the delay times and modulation rates (even if it affects both delays) would have been really welcome though, as well as separate feedback/mix amounts. As it is, it has basically one role which it handles pretty well, but I feel like it could have been more.

Shallow Water (which I own) and Meet Maude (which I want to own) are both great and will add a wonderful texture to whatever passes through.

I often place Shallow Water right before a stereo delay, and it creates these gigantic, unstable atmospheres.

The good news is, you can’t go wrong!

Update on my delay search: I went with an OTO BIM. It was awesome. Then I bricked it.:rofl::rofl:

Apparently a few of the first 300 units had a bad bootloader which did not allow for Sysex updating. So, Denis is having someone send me a little something or other that will re-flash another something or other.

But, it sounded awesome before that!

I love this one on the miniKP as well (#64, which may or may not be the same as the KP3 implementation). Even moreso I love its neighbor FeedbackEcho #65, which when first triggered creeps in and swirls around the stereo field beautifully.

A Thyme is joining the family very soon!

I’ve got a Shallow Water, Meet Maude, and the Adineko.

If I had to choose only one then it would definitely be the Meet Maude. If you set the delay time to minimum you get shallow water type random modulation effects. The built in compressor is also lovely. It’s my favourite analogue delay by a country mile.

The Adineko is definitely a nice pedal. I use it as an alternative to reverb on my pedal board. Being able to mix between the short and long delays is interesting. It doesn’t have the vibe or character that Maude and Shallow have though (both have real BBD’s and the Adineko is an FV-1 based design).

Thanks. I certainly have been hearing that Meet Maude is a “desert island” pedal

I’ve got 5 pedals on the abridged version of my wishlist now… Pedal Crush was a dangerous book
