I love mine almost as much (and for different reasons than) my H9, and I find the algos are quite expressive if you work with them. My only request would be for more modulated reverb options to go with the delay, otherwise it’s a really excellent pedal, up there with Timefactor/H9 IMO, and much more interesting sounding than Strymon’s stuff (to my ears it sounds less plastic, warmer, more “musical”).

Yeah, I also prefer the EchoSystem to the Timeline, and like it about the same as the H9/Timefactor but for different reasons. Timefactor always leads me to good stereo sounds, whereas one reason I especially love the Echosystem is because it lets you run two algorithms at the same time, to get really interesting colour.

Whew, ok, good. I’m glad to hear that I just need to spend more time with it.

I don’t have a Timeline, so I can’t do a comparison there. I was A/B’ing it with the Walrus D1 when I typed my last message. But to be fair, the sound design on the D1 is perhaps my favorite, and caters to what I like.

I love my Echosystem, but I have been on the fence lately in favour of a Mimeophon to pair with my Magneto / Clouds and call it a day with my delay needs. As another post mentioned the Thing 1 / 2 recall is a little frustrating when bouncing between two algorithms, but the combinations can be delicious (although I do find myself always gravitating to the same 3 or 4 modes only). So yeah, I’ve probably just jumped the fence with this post.

does anybody know if meet maude’s mix knob goes to 100% wet? I am considering getting one to use as a send on a mixer, but can’t find this information anywhere.

on a related note, can I use eurorack CV in the expression pedal input straight away?

I’ve got one and it does go to 100% wet.

You can configure the expression input for cv using the internal dip switches.

The Meet Maude is my favourite analogue delay. It has so much character. You won’t regret getting one.

thanks! i think I’ll like it, judging from demos I’ve listened to. I am a bit concerned it’s a bit too characterful to be the only mixer send delay and maybe if I am going to have one delay for now I should get something more, so to say, bread and butter like El Capistan, but that’s something I’ll have to figure out on my own

It’s really characterful. The most characterful delay I own by far. It is still very musical though. The combination of random modulation on BBD delay is really nice, and isn’t something I have seen on any other analogue delay.

I used it heavily on this track (along with Fairfield’s Shallow Water):

I’ve got an El Capistan which is great, but for general purpose delay I had a Strymon DIG for a while, and I regret selling that. It is a great ‘all rounder’ stereo delay.

Do you own this Analog Delay? I had the previous Analog Replicator and the repeats were super noisy and had tons of hiss. Thanks for any input! Thinking of getting this one. Cheers!

i haven’t gotten one, but it’s on my list. i love the character of analog delays and it seems they’ve done their best to overcome the noise. if you get one let us know how it goes

Just catching up on this thread. Strymon Volante has a sound on sound looper with tape stop — 1:45 ish in this video:

I really want one.

I liked my Meet Maude but ultimately didn’t like it as much Foxpedal’s The Wave and ended up selling the MM in favour of that. The built-in reverb adds a load to the sound and the three different repeat modes plus switchable modulation is really something else.

Cool

As there is a lot of DLD stuff here I thought I’d drop this in. I’ve been playing around with the DLD as a pseudo time lag accumulator. Its more “in the style of” than a full recreation of the original process because I found having the two delays in cross feedback made the results too busy, plus it was really tricky to avoid uncontrolled feedback. But, as a bonus, this approach does give some nice stereo effects. The video starts with a walkthrough of the patch and how the melodic voice is generated but if you want to skip that (and my hay fever snuffling) just jump to 5:50.

how do you people think the Echosystem compares to the Bastl Thyme? lately i’ve considered selling it to fund modules for my new modular setup, but i still like it. i just don’t use it practically much. its really crazy though. and apparently kind of hard to get your hands on (almost went for like $630 on reverb a couple days ago).

recently I’ve also considered the Tensor and the Shallow water. kind of unrelated but it would probably be at the expense of this delay unit.I didn’t know Echosystem had granular. but the mutli-loop functionality sounds great

The Lubadh’s delay mode is turning out to be a lot more interesting than I expected. When I watched Instruo’s demo video I came away thinking it seemed tacked on and limited, and that I wouldn’t really use it. It’s hard to describe, but the effect it produces when you modulate the delay time sounds much more physical than what I’ve heard from other digital tape delays I’ve used.

Here’s a little snippet of it. I have the left reel in delay mode, with feedback patched through a fixed filterbank, and then I’m monitoring that through the right one so I could record different passages on each reel. I’m sending a slow, low amplitude LFO to the delay time and it creates all these little screeches and warbles that sound like birds chirping. There’s just something about the overall dynamics of the distortion that sounds like real physical tape to me and I love it.

picked up a Volante pre-pandemic and while I really liked the overall sound, thought it was a bit “tame” for my tastes. I’ve never really messed with MIDI before so figured a norns script to take advantage of the possibilities + make it more of the delay I want would be worthwhile. this is a quick jam w/ just guitar > volante > norns tape

I received a new x0xb0x today and got stuck playing sequences through the Lyra fx and turning knobs for a few hours. It’s quickly becoming one of my favorite delays. The drive sounds so good and the input works great with line levels.

I don’t have the module but I’ve been using my standalone Lyra-8 as an effects unit when not using the synth voice itself. I agree, the delay is absolutely bonkers - I like that it embraces the dirty weirdness of the PT2399 chips to create something really special. It reminds me a bit of the NLC Delay No More although the Lyra has its own vibe, especially with the overdrive, self mod, and hyper lfo.

I’ve been thinking about using the Lyra-8 FX as a model to develop something on the ER-301. Has anyone taken a crack at this yet? I’d be curious to hear folks’ attempts.
