I feel like a Keyed Mosstone and a Tetrax with a few pedals / Kaoss Pad would make a fantastically tacticle compact west coast synthesizer instrument. Must try one day!

I was sceptical about the mosstone until watching that video, very comprehensively breaks down the functionality and possibilities.

Have had my Mosstone for about a month. Very enjoyable little device that rewards investigation and has a surprisingly broad palette for such a tiny footprint. Yesterday Will at Lorre Mill contacted me about a new batch of cowboy callosums he’d produced. I’d been looking for a double knot for a while, but impulsively decided two was better than one, plus the shared brain between both. Very interested if anyone has any experience with the callosum in terms of patching or anecdotal tip–Lorre Mill manuals tend to be more aphoristic than instructional, filled with gorgeous watercolors of the circuitry. All twelve of Will’s units sold within ten minutes of posting them. (Mine’s #11 on his site, Persian rug not included.)

Loving the pink knobs!

Q: did you find Davies with the line on the flat side of the D-shaft?

If you still have you cowboy callosum, have you figured out the mixer? I just bought one of Will’s latest batch of callosums and would love any patching tips or anecdotal wisdom you might have gleaned I also have a Lorre-Mill Mosstone, figuring the two devices will play well together.

I’m thinking we should maybe start a new thread for Lorre Mill sounds and videos. I, for one, will be posting quite a few, I expect. I love this Double Knot, and my Mosstone arrives later this week.
So here’s a really simple piece I made tonight which I think I can edit and make into some actual music. I’m posting it here to show the range of the synth.
I’m sending master clock and CV from Kria. Same CV to both OSCs.
I have the two envelopes modulating themselves to become expo.
The lower pitched voice stays static, FM, wise. I play around with the higher one, and the master FM. The ā€˜Rungler’ of one of the channels is modulating the master FM depth. FM is going both ways for the whole piece.
Delays are from Pitch Factor (tuned) and El Capistan.

Great idea! I already have a Mosstone: wonderfully ingenious. A new Cowboy Callosum arrived from Will today—his latest short run batch. Basically a double Double Knot with an as yet esoteric mixer between the two. So far it’s poly poly-rhythmic to the nth degree. Any insights you can provide about pairing devices or anecdotal observations would be most welcome. First impression besides being wowed by the Callosum—I need more banana cables.

Hey guys, Allie here, I’m really glad you guys have been enjoying my videos! I’ve finally made an account here, so if you have any questions about the Double Knot feel free to message, ask here, or in the new dedicated Lorre Mill thread that’s been opened

Nice colour scheme. I’ll definitely try some different knobs once I finally find one to buy

Those with eurorack experience, can you think of a sequencer that has similar properties to those on the Double Knot? In particular the gate sequencer. I’m hoping to find something I can incorporate in my euro rig while I wait to find one for sale.

not that I know of. There are some nice shift register based modules and this forum has a dedicated thread to them. There is also Turing Machine that uses some of these principles. But none of them lets you manually punch in the gates as in Double Knot. You could probably find a clever way to use CV recorder or CV looper to achieve similar outcomes. I have never used these. I would use Beatstep Pro in live recording mode to achieve something similar. Still, its not the same. Double Knot seems to be quite unique little device in that regards.

? … obviously clocked by some external src …

Looks interesting, but I don’t think it has the same type of gate feedback that DK uses  Most likely I’m misunderstanding what it actually does. Feedback patching does my head in!

There’s a couple of digital shift register modules that get some of the way there, but I’m struggling to find one that’s longer than 4 steps. I’ll have a dig through that thread, thanks

The DU-RDT is 8 steps, with 2 (selectable) outputs. Has looping and a manual input button / trigger…

Yah nice one @fever606, this looks like a contender.

Ok apologies all for hijacking this thread. I’ll take myself over the shift register thread

Hey guys! Sorry for the silence on my end, things have been a little rough for me but they’re finally getting a little brighter. I wanted to share with you my new video on the Meng Qi Gesture Arcade, a beautiful interface controller/expander for the Double Knot! Check it out and please let me know what you think

Check out Rung Divisions from Fancy Synthesis It’s an LFSR closer maybe to a Benjolin, but you can manually input bits ala the double knot.

First couple of jams with DK today and I’m floored. Such a clever design.

Still trying to figure out what a couple of the jacks do, but seriously :ok_hand:

How did you come by the double knot? They don’t seem to be readily available, so I assume you found one second hand? Looking forward to seeing/hearing some examples of what you’re doing with it.

Yep found one 2nd hand on here.
